The offense needed 21 points to win last week and 27 to win this week. That’s not too much to ask from a staff that is supposedly filled with offensive gurus

So, an opponent getting a whopping 12 points after your offense gives them the ball at the 7, 12, 18, and 27, yard line and also sets up the 10 points the offense “scored”……that’s what you seriously would label “awful defense”?

DJ Durkin gave up 248 rushing to Bishop alone (331 total rushing) even with Faizon at QB who cannot throw a forward pass.
So, If Bama was “awful” on defense today then Texas and Auburn must be two of the worst defenses in recent SEC history…..

Yeah, they have been “lit up” in SEC play for a whopping 20.1ppg while also scoring 4 defensive TD’s (not to mention also forcing the most turnovers period).
That brings the net total down to 16.6ppg.

So, 16.6 points allowed against SEC opponents CLEARLY means his defense doesn’t work….

Via still want to know what you mean here? After watching the games the last two weeks, you think defense is the issue? Why exactly?

Truth be known, there’s actually problems on both sides of the ball. Some of it falls on coaching, some on athleticism and some on strength!
Grubb doesn’t take what defenses are giving him and Womack fails to make adjustments…stays in that stupid zone. DoBoer is just a walking dead zombie on the sideline. Half the time he looks like an 80 year old lost in a amusement park!

be fair... Grubb's offense put our defense on the field way too much

His defense gets pushed around up front, plats soft coverage and can’t make a stop on 3rd down. When is the last time they’ve forced a three and out?

Nothing about this loss is Wommack’s fault.

So playing CBs 50 yards off the LoS isn’t Womack’s Fault?

The problem is that we don't have an offense that can put 21 points and 27 points on back to back elite defenses.

THIS is the problem. Against wimpy arse defenses, our offense looks great, scoring all those 40+ points earlier in the season. But against better defensive teams we can’t get a scheme or rhythm or play calling or anything working on offense. It’s like we play scared and rattled.

I hated the soft coverage but other than that we had way to many turnovers and produced nothing on offense. The depleted defense can only play so long.

Yea I get it but did you see the angles and whiffs 28 and 5 had on some big plays ? Texas had 10 sacks against UT… we had 1. Offense sucks too . When will we see Rogers? If we are going young on offense , might as well play Morgan more . I knew there would be growing pains with KR but he HAS to take a lot of the blame . Ball security, panicking in the pocket , not hitting easy throws so the receivers can get YAC … it all falls on him. Not optimistic but maybe we can win out

Hooker only face them once.

Bama’s defense is good enough (especially if healthy), that they could/would hold any team in the Conference to 21 points or less if they had just an average offense that put a couple drives together, the play-calling flowed together, they get quick/easy throws for the QB, and take a few well -timed shots down the field, etc.

Just a basic Jim Mcelwain caliber offense would net them 21 points and cut the opponents number of possessions down by 25% .

This is like some Les Miles type shite where they are losing 20-17, and its always a race to see who d ores 20 points first is the winner.

It’s just unacceptable,.

Didn’t reference the other two phases of the game.

I am specifically discussing the defense. Bama performed far better against all common opponents they have shared with Texas and AU and faired better in 3/4 major categories (yardage, yards per play, rushing totals) despite defending 4 more possessions than UT did and 3 more than AU did.

If we just had AU’s offense then Bama would be 7-0 right now.

So I asked you if this defense is “awful” then Texas and AU must be among the worst defenses in the past 10-15 years in the SEC

That clearly went over your head.

I was showing what can happen to eve. tGoat defense if your offense does absolutely nothing all game and leaves you out there the entire game.

I was in no way comparing the UT QB or offense to Deshaun Watson, but go ahead and get you 60 upvotes for letting the point go completely over your head

4 of them today. 2 on the first 3 possessions of the game. Also 4 against UGA if you want to go as far ba k as a week ago.

You are allowing your emotions to control your ability to be objective while also suffering from recency bias

No it’s not. They played Cover 0 on every 3rd and short. Then played man-under 2-deep on the incompletion to #81 in the flat to their right.

They have played 11% more m2m coverage this year compared to last according to PFF team stats.

They have run a LOT of cover zero to sellout and stop the run on 1st down, but no one notices unless it’s a pass

So explain why our cbs were playing 10 yards off? Look at the pic and explain that. There isnt any excuse for that.
