Yeah Kane is interesting. He doesn't give up that many points, but allows the other team to absolutely chew the clock. Never forces many punts but never gives up big plays. Like others have said hard to win when the offense does nothing. But we do get limited possessions with the current defensive philosophy. Believe Kane moves on in the off season. So guess we will find out

This is where the statistics don’t support your opinion.

If you give up yards but not points, then how do you allow the fewest yards last year by a Bama D since 2017, and top10 nationally,

Today for example, the 4 FGs they held them to were 3-n-outs but they did t end in a Punt, and they also forced 5 punts and 2 turnovers (leading to 10 points).

Over the past 3 seasons they have forced the 3rd most turnovers in all of CFB, and have 11 more than 2nd place OU (14 more than Georgia).

So when people say “bend but don’t break, I always point them to the fact that even with an Grubb ATROCIOUS offense that puts the defense on the field in terrible field position all the time, yet they’ve given up:
- Less points
- Less YARDS
- And 14 more turnovers than Kirby and Georgia since 2024.

So if CKW is “Bend but don’t break” then what is Kirby’s defense?

Bc Georgia has defended close to 20% less possessions yet allowed more points and YARDS.

Yes, they want a 2016 defense. But they forget the 561 yards and 45 points that Clemson hung on then they got left out to dry by the offense and allowed Clemson 14 possessions (1 fewer than UT had).

They play press with Z Brown as the “Boundary” Corner and play off with the “Field” Corner.

This is berry common especially in the NFL.

They gave up the fewest passing yards in the SEC the past 2 years and #3 in the country.

Believe it or not, they mix up zone and don’t just play m2m and blitz 7 every play of the game.

CKW has given up 30 points 4 times in 36 games.
Saban’s defenses that had the best talent ever assembled (imo) from 2018-2022 (76 games) defense gave up 38 or more points 15 times, including 40+ to Heupel 2 out of 3 matchups.

Defense scored 10.

Which means if the offense could've just mustered 17 points they win this game.

This loss is on Grubb. 100%.

There are things that drive me crazy about this defense like the inability to wrap up and tackle the ball carrier.

But the defense gave us a chance to win the last 2 weeks. Grubb and this offense failed. CKD is supposed to be an offensive guru but I haven't seen it.

I agree that 90% of this game was lost by the offense, I’m just calling out what I see because I know Kiffin is going to exploit everything he sees.

Oh I agree. I hate that our DBs are playing 10 yards off in coverage on a 3rd and 4. Well any down and distance.

Just two weeks ago Dijon Lee was knocking receivers on their asses at the line and getting a pick 6. Where the hell did that go?

Couple of blown coverages and big plays downfield must have them playing scared

It's like we play prevent defense the whole game now, which is fine if we have a lead. But we haven't had many leads recently

Yep, that’s what they need.

They need 21 offensive points and can even come close to controlling 50% of the time of possession (limiting teams to less than 10 possessions is the biggest factor more-so than just TOP).

Imagine flipping field position occasionally on drives when you don’t score too…a man can dream

One of you crickets downvoting me, provide ONE statistic or make one point outside of “they allowed easy completions in the flats” that proves anything that I’ve said is incorrect.

What other defensive stats are there?
Yards per play: Bama
Yards per game: Bama
Points allowed: Bama
Turnovers: Bama in a landslide

That’s 4/4 over Georgia’s defense since CKW has been here.

The defense had to DRAG the team to Atlanta and the Playoffs last year.

Just bc they are giving up 20.8ppg instead of 17.2ppg and 326ypg instead of 296, doesn’t tell the whole story…they are having to defend 4.5 more possessions per game than a year ago, and their opponents starting field position is the 2nd worst in the entire conference.

I’m sure if they played more press man coverage but allowed more points you guys would be happier?

Or if they averaged 2 more 3-n-outs a game you all would be happier than forcing the most turnovers and scoring the most defensive points in all of CFB?

Yes you are correct, the defense kept them in the game and any decent SEC offense would have won these past two weeks.

I’m being sarcastic.

I’m saying he was affected by having to defend twice as many possessions as what he saw throughout that season and it had the same result.

Also CKW doesn’t have 8 1st rounders starting for him either on defense like Pruitt did.
Checkout how Jeremy did at Tennessee when he didn’t have Jonathon Allen, Reuben Foster, Minkah Fitzpatrick anymore (hint: wasn’t pretty)

Wait, people are blaming the defense for this loss and Georgia last week?
Are you serious? Womack is the only coach worth a shite on this staff

Answer this one question like a man instead of hiding behind your downvote, deal?

Yes or no question: with an average or slightly below average SEC offense would Bama have beaten Georgia and UT or was the awful defense too much to overcome?

Yes or no?

The defense did enough to win. Not great, but enough. Our offense screwed the pooch big time the past two weeks.
