Chuck's is great. Avenue Pub is really solid. I really enjoy Southern Ale House, but it's not downtown like the others.

Heat Pizza if you want pizza. They have some great pies and the drinks are good too.

Love Heat, but he seemed to be favoring some “fancier” places by mentioning River and Cypress Inn.

I'm not picky in the slightest and can eat pretty much anything. The only thing I've gotten at river is some big brunch plate thing that's got grits, sausage, eggs, bacon, hash browns. Damn good. My wife is definitely the pickier eater but she'll eat just about any fish so Chuck's sounds like it'd be a good spot to branch out and try.

eta: chucks may be a litter nicer than we were looking for. We'll probbaly be eating relatively quick before heading to the basketball game.

You can do that at DePalma’s if you can get in. Avenue Pub would be another good option.

For a truly unique experience, you could consider Nick’s in the Sticks. 10 mins outside of town though.

Quick and good downtown:

Depalma’s if you’re lucky and there’s not a crowd
Heat (Thai chicken pizza, trust me)
Avenue Pub (burgers)
FIVE bar
