Alabama vs. Kentucky Hoops (historical records)/Oats, notes > Vandy game!

Nate Oats is in rare company. With the Alabama win, Oats is now 7-4 at Alabama as a head coach in head-to-head games against Kentucky.
That makes Oats one of only five head coaches who have played against UK as many as 10 times and who have a winning record against the Wildcats >>
Izzo 7-4
Self 9-6
Dean Smith 13-3
Alabama joins a select list. Alabama’s victory was its fourth in a row over Kentucky dating back to last season. That put the Crimson Tide on a historically-rare list for an SEC men’s basketball program.
Among the current teams in the Southeastern Conference, Alabama is only the fourth to have ever beaten Kentucky as many as four straight times.
Both Tennessee (5 in a row in the '70's) and Florida (7 in a row during the Billy D. era) won more. We have also set or tied all-time records in our last 2 games which doesn't happen every week. (22 3's at home vs Yale tied that # at home and then, Kentucky's victory run yesterday).
After the first couple of minutes when you could hear a pin drop and 5-0, I thought the crowd was pretty good. A little hard getting fired up at 11am. Weird seeing the arena mostly full except the students. But they'll be there moving forward. Always would rather have that first game on the road the way the SEC schedule folks do it now but getting the win was A+. And Stillman's Band was great. They can play whenever they want.
Vandy game will be huge Wednesday night 8pm/ESPN2. Alabama up to #13 in Kenpom, Vandy #5. Anyone going? Our losses are now 2, 4 and 7.
All time Ala/Van hoops record is 77-68. We have won 4 in a row, 5 in a row in Nashville and 9 of 11 in the series.
Hope Sherrell can help us.

Agreed. They were outstanding. Sign them up for every home game.

Guesses on the line Wednesday night?
Alabama is 10-2 ATS in its last 12 games played in January.

I don't know if I've lost on a Bama first half line this season. It's been money.
I'd guess we're going to be a 4-5 point favorite.

I hope we can give Oats what he wants for NIL; it'd be a huge blow to lose him.

We're sure as shite closer to sealing the deal with the right buy or two in basketball than football.

The frustrating part about it is that it wouldn't need to be that much more of a budget than he already gets. It feels like we are to that "one more piece" stage of program development. But, IMO, that piece needs to be a high ceiling 2 way big and those are expensive as prep recruits or portal signings. I'm really hoping we can get Sherrell to hang around one more season because you can clearly see it starting to come together for him and there's a realistic possibility he is that player next year.

We are living in the good old days of basketball. Enjoy it.

that seems like a massive line. Thought it would be closer to 1.5

I like Ala and the points. We could certainly lose but I don't think their weird arse gym or being on the road will be the cause. They'll play well, if we do.
I like our chances. We usually have a good amount of fans there too.
We are going be in solo possession of first in this league in no time if we win tomorrow night. I've done the math. Mark it!
Bol being hurt allowed Noah to have a big game. It'll be interesting to see how both do tomorrow or if Bowen is even back.
It's almost time to talk about Holloway being really, really good this year. I mean better than Philon? It's a good argument to be making as the season goes along. Last Saturday, every time we felt the heat and them cutting it below 10, he stepped up. Huge.

Gameday! Let's go boys!!
I am so tired of hearing about the Jungle over in Auburn. It's always sold out? No it is not. Empty seats all over the place last night and most left before the final shot where they almost won. Please pipe down about that place. We win at a higher consistency at our place. Gheesh.

No. Holloway is really good but Philon is in his own league right now.

He has been, but Philon has played himself into the lottery of what is going to be an unbelievably stacked draft.
