That's actually surprising. We nearly missed the SEC tournament. What an awful year off a national title.

Yeah. Growing pains somewhat. Still though, coming off a National Title, has a nice ring to it. Especially when it's the first by the SEC.

It was certainly a surprisingly rough year. I just think everyone else in the SEC really stepped up this year while we regressed a little. It was a solid year, not by the past 5 years' standards, but not as big a disaster as it might seem.

We lost a lot of experienced players that had been together for a while. This young team will shape up and gain more consistancy.

I didn't want to predict a rebuilding year but it pretty quickly unfolded.

Maybe just the high of finally winning a title put, not complacency, but a "what now" type lull on the season. While we did graduate a bunch of great seniors, the Juniors had been on almost an identical ride. They were there for the 2010 Hawaii catastrophe and the 2011 UF demolition and now having won it, may have taken out most of the urgency we had last year. That's the word, "urgency", 2010 and 2011 had been close years but we knew 2012 was title or bust. Our motto was "FINISH IT" and it almost seemed like the culmination of a 4 year season.

I really don't know what I would have done as coach after that. Tell them, stay hungry, everyone's out to get you now, finish strong, all the usual hoopla. Remember, this is Murph's first title. No Bama coach as ever defended their first title since Wallace Wade (sort of).

The Good news? Assuming we get some depth behind Traina with the next class... i DO NOT predict a rebuilding year in 2014, rather, a return to form.
