Although in my opinion he would be better at LB because of his athleticism. But what do I know

Don't think he likes playing that position though
He'd be a good fit as a power back option at OM so there is definitely a positive there for Freeze tio sell and as has been discussed AD NASEUM here & SECRb all Freeze needs in Dec is a foot in the door to kick it down. He & OM staff are phenomenal closers, not one doubt about that

I want Bo really bad. He reminds me so much of Fred Taylor. I'm not worried about the safety situation. I think Bama ends this class strong.

He doesn't, he wants to play offense exclusively and that's a good choice too because he'll have an impact wherever he is.

We are trying to sell him on Bama's depth at that position and our lack of strength at RB
Actual Quote on Rivals from CJ: "It came down to my family and talking to coach (Hugh) Freeze and looked at the depth chart and it's a good position for me to go into," Hampton said. "Everybody knows Ole Miss isn't the biggest winning program up here on the table, but I think I can go do something different and be a ball hawk and change it.
Now I know this is 2 different positions and 2 different players, but IMHO depth chart is NO GUARANTEE that the player next in line is NEXT UP.

CJ is already better than our current FS IMO. Elston has zero ball awareness and is an undisciplinred tackler.

Further quote and story line regarding the Hootie situation!
When Hampton finished with the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic last weekend, he went home, changed clothes and headed to Tuscaloosa to spend some time with Jones on the Alabama campus. The time allowed the two to talk.
"We talked and went over a lot of stuff. What made him feel how he felt, what he had to do, and I supported him.
"You just have to do what you need to do," Hampton said of Jones' decision. "I decommitted from Ole Miss and it was what I felt like I needed to do and check out everything. Hootie might go back to Alabama. We don't know.
Could Ole Miss be an option?
"That's my boy, so we'll talk, but I'm not going to pressure him," Hampton said. "A lot of guys pull on you. I know how it is. We'll talk, and I might throw something in at times, but I'm never going to pressure him to do anything."
Hampton is confident with his decision, but he won't be locked in until he takes his first step in an Ole MIss classroom. It's possible -- or probable -- Friday's announcement didn't slow down other schools.
"I'm pretty sure they will keep recruiting," Hampton said. "These past weeks have been very intense recruiting wise. Everyone pushing, and especially (FSU, Alabama and Arkansas). They had their own ideas of what was going to happen. They pushed, and I respect them. If they want to talk, I'll talk, but this is just a fit."

I've had access to this board longer than you have

As someone else mentioned on the LSUrb, Saban has a a lot if success converting RBs to LBs. If he thinks a player would succeed at LB, he knows wtf he's talking about.
But in the end, it's up to the player so who knows.

Cool. This has become an Ole Miss/LSU thread.
Pretty sure I've been predominately discussing bama recruits sans ONE post about fournette.

So is his line he's going with "better fit defesively" as it relates to scheme?? Or is is the depth chart?? Because OM started a couple underclassmen at S this yr and I know you said that Hampton would be better than Elston but that doesn't mean he will start over him especially next yr, Elston has SEC game experience.
I am not as worried as most on here because I believe staff has a plan moving forward (mho is to take 3 more CBs and switch a guy or 2 on roster) it sucks that 2 guys that seemed locked into this class 2 weeks ago are out of the picture now (Hootie may still not be, don't know)
I would agree with Bo on the depth at OM being more favorable than Bama, but not at all at S JMHO though

This is just my opinion, but having a stout OL on a consistant basis is more appealing than depth chart and playing time.
For a RB (and QB) you're going to need help with a good OL if you want to stand out.

quote:Completely agree. People are calling Ingram and Richardson busts right now, but those two guys were still drafted in the first round. While I don't think they should be labelled as such yet, what people saying that tells me is that the O line they were playing with was good enough to mask any deficiencies they had and allowed them to be drafted highly.

Truth, especially for an RB. The depth chart ahead of you could be wiped out rather quickly due to injuries or what/not.

I still see Hootie coming here. No Hampton sucks, but Clark can be at Safety.
Marlon Humphrey is a must have though. I hate to say it, but we should concede LF to LSU and put the most effort into MH. Too good to miss on. Get him and Tabor and that is a good enough finish.
Who would we move to CB though? Currently on the roster I don't see anyone who is a natural move to Corner, and then you have to consider it's best to do it with a young guy like Cyrus Jones was to give him time to learn the position. Maybe ArDarius Stewart?

I'm sorry ABDIW meant switch a player or 2 currently on roster to S
I agree as well RB but kids 19 yo aren't gonna believe that when 8/10 staffs recruiting the really good ones are bashing depth charts and touches for this or that school

Idk why we even pursued LF. We signed a lot of great RBs last year, and while LF would be incredible, we have other pressing needs.
