I think Thomas could have possibly committed, but wasn't a high priority when it came to mapping out the class.

5 schools standing out to Ermon Lane: Alabama, Florida, LSU, Miami and Georgia

He wants to play in a pro style offense and also wants to play early. He'll look closely at depth when making his decision.

Yep, and the biggest issue for Thomas was always his Mother. His Mother wanting him close to home was pretty much understood throughout the process. I would call it similar to A'Shawn Robinson in the sense that the kid was saying the right things and actually followed up and visited when he had the opportunity.

It was reported that Coach Saban had an in-home visit scheduled with Thomas, but it was cancelled for some ambiguous reason. Thomas's Mother did not visit with him, and I am sure that Coach Saban was going to at least make an effort to speak with her face 2 face. He had a spot if he and his Mom wanted to make the jump...

I dont know why these recruits say this. Even if you do feel that way, no sense saying it to a reporter.

This, in my mind, is the explanation that makes the most sense & fits the timeline.

At the time it was reported that he wanted to commit (early to mid Summer) before he had even made the visit, staff already had the #1 ILB, a highly touted undersized DE who was originally from AL & moved to Va but projected as a LB, and looking like we would land Nkemdiche at that point, no one knew the shitstorm that would occur with either RF or RN, but we had just signed a stacked group of LB's in the previous class & could afford to be picky about the spots.

Fast-forward to end of the Summer and RN commited to Yabba Dabo doo & Clempson & RF transfered to AuHS (he stayed committed, but I'm almost certain staff had a sinking feeling regardless of what he was telling them) and 2 of 3 the staff had their minds set on looked like an uphill battle, but while Bama was turning away MT, the staffs & coaches at Miami & FSU were courting him as "the guy" and were able to negatively pitch that he was Bama's "back-up plan" so well that it worked on Momma as well as the "this is your state, stay in it" pitch.

I feel like the Mom from what I heard had a pretty large role in the kid's life to be able to make a difference in his decision and she did. So regardless of him liking Bama or not I still don't think she would let him OOS, but that is my opinion.

If Ed Paris commits to LSU as expected, one would think that our chances with Hootie Jones would increase.

LSU already has Voorhies, safety from MS, committed and Paris would give them two already.

Thoughts?

We have a great shot at Hootie already so that only helped

He's also a larger S (thought to grow into a LB if he chooses LSU) but he fits our scheme really well

The need for redshirt year development delayed it by one season, but Hoke is getting ready to unveil the 10 OL/1 QB offense.

Seriously, we are going to have 2 OTs taken in the first round of this year's draft and another that will go in the second at worst.

Why won't highly ranked O-Lineman come here?

What the frick are you doing Mario Cristobal????? Get to goddamn work!!

Disclaimer: The above statements were made in jest. I am not really having a meltdown.

I'll take 5 Chance Warmacks and give you 5 Seantrel Hendersons. Our teams can play. I guarantee you mine will win, because all of your QBs will be dead by the end of the 1st quarter.

Not if I request a rule change that players be forced to cover their stomach. That's Chance's kryptonite

I'm just glad William Vlachos tucked his in, he looks like he's smuggling a beach ball under his jersey.

I guess we'll be okay at the Guard spots, so losing out on Cole is not that big of a deal.

As long as we get Brumfield, Sims, and Taylor, I'll be a dancing banana.

We just need some Tackles to jump on board.
