I like the way on those first couple of plays he drove his man downfield through the whistle.

I know. But it should. We took 3 goddamn quarterbacks last year. If ever there was a year we could be picky

We are going to be picky, but that doesnt mean its Cornwell or bust. You have to take a QB every class. Its stupid not to.

It was stupid to take Ely. If you know a guy is bench fodder then save that spot.

Thats hindsight. Had AJ gotten hurt last year we very well could have seen Ely.

No sir. I can find you my post of me saying "this guy will never play for us". And Ely was behind Sims and Morris. Sims sucks and Morris was a freshman.

He's garbage. We offered him just to have a qb and probably turned away a good player to do it

What does that matter?

Well we only know he was behind Sims, who never played a meaningful snap. Who knows who would have come in if AJ had gotten hurt and we needed to throw the ball. The staff could have very well protected Morris' RS and played Ely.

Ely was also meant to be the second QB in a class behind Kiel or Jaboo

And the Kiel/Winston year was Morris. Ely was the year before

Ely was just a body. You should always have 3 or 4 scholarship QBs on roster. Granted, we would've been screwed if we had had to play him, but we needed the depth until we could upgrade

I don't adhere to this notion that he was a wasted scholarship. You can't afford to just throw them away. If the staff felt he could, and would, contribute down the road, one has to believe that's why they signed him.

Next year we'll have 4 on scholarship and one who had scholarship offers. Unless the guy you are bringing in can win the job down the line then I wouldn't bring him in. Throw that attention at Town. This is all moot if we get Cornwell though. So let's let that play out first

I think I would have rather ran the wildcat every play than use Ely.

I'd rather just punt the ball and hope our defense can score
