Regardless of how he throws I hope we give this kid the green light to commit.

Game Highlights

I asked Charles Power from BOL his thoughts on Cornwell vs Town and this was his response:

quote:

Difficult for me to say for a few reasons- I've seen Cornwell throw live before at the Army Underclassmen Combine and haven't seen Town in person. Also they're at different stages in their respective careers. I could probably give a better comparison after a) seeing Town throw live and/or b) seeing junior film- hard to compare Cornwell as a junior to Town as a sophomore, which is all we really have at this point.

However, I do feel like both are top 2-4 QB's over the 2014-15 classes combined as things stand now. There's a ton to like about both. Cornwell's combination of size, footwork, and arm strength is about as good as you'll see at this stage. Town is unique in that he operates a pro-style scheme at a very high level along with being accurate and very advanced in his drops, ball handling, pocket presence, etc.

I haven't watched the highlights on Town yet, but I usually agree with him regarding QBs. He's a good analyst who doesn't blow smoke. I thought it was interesting that he thinks they both are in the Top 2-4 over this year and next years class COMBINED.

Town on his visit yesterday:

quote:

“It was definitely exciting. I really like Coach Saban. He was saying it’s rare to find a quarterback that runs a pro-style like we do at St. Bonaventure. He said that was something he got really excited about when he watched my film. He was saying that’s the type of stuff that they run there and they’re not going to change. That was great to hear, because I’m looking for that kind of system.”

So much for all that talk that we are targeting dual threat guys.

Just because you target dual threat QBs doesn't mean you are going to get away from running a pro-style offense. It's not 1997 anymore. Plenty of kids who can run can also pass really, really well now.

Quote from Da'Shawn Hand:

quote:

***Hand is very aware of the speculating that Virginia Tech and Michigan are his top two schools. The 247Sports Crystal Ball currently reads in favor of the Hokies over the Wolverines, 75 percent to 25 percent.

“Nobody knows what I’m thinking,” Hand said. “I really don’t have any favorites. Anyone that says Michigan and Virginia Tech are in the lead are not getting that from me. Those are not my top two schools. I haven’t decided it yet.”

I would take either. The thing is though, with everything being equal, unless cornrow can beat out Morris next year then you might as well get Town because he'll have an extra year after Morris leaves. I like both a lot though.

I just don't get this infatuation with Morris. I have seen nothing about him that makes me believe he could successfully run this offense at a high level like those before him.

I'm trying to find 9 minutes so I can watch Town's film.

Its just based on where he has visited the most, and the local school.

I didn't like him when we recruited him. Didn't like his film. He's made a ton of improvement and looked great this spring.

Well, we dont have to worry about OSU for Hand

Ohio State will not make up any ground with Hand this weekend and part of the reason is they don't really care to. He's a great player and a really awesome kid, but not the right fit for their program.

Did you not watch A day? He showed very good vision and arm strength. I guess you are another star watcher and Bateman. Morris has a very good grip on the offense and plus physical tools.

Hope Town's junior footage is better. All I saw was a guy with decent mechanics, but poor vision. He seems to be unable or not allowed to throw down field. He ignored several wide open WRs down field to dump the ball off. That worries me.

Just a joke about how we don't (usually) give (at least what most people consider) blue chip QBs the green light until they throw in our camp and outperform others on that given one day.

I don't really get it, but it's just a joke because this staff should be pretty much above any criticism after 3/4.

I now feel embarrassed by what film I watch when I had 9 minutes before work today.
