SEC CHAMPS?? IN BASKETBALL? Really? Don't wake me up.
From Chumps to Champs,whatta jump.

Did not expect it this year. The defensive transition is what did it. Whoever is responsible deserves a huge raise. Seniors bought in and it became the culture of the team.
What an achievement, no words.
Now we have to marry our defense to our potent offense to go anywhere in the NCAA's. It Means Petty,Primo, Shack cannot be streaky anymore, have to be good to great throughout the tourney.
Do we have it in us? Can we do the unthinkable?
Elite Eight.Final Four. Championship!!!
Stranger things have happened.

Varidel. His terrible legs made it where he couldn’t get medically cleared.

Yeah that one was relatively straightforward at least. The one that needs a 30 for 30 is Nick King.

I feel like Passink said that both Kessens and Nick King were the best players at practice during their respective sit out years yet they were both arse when it mattered

One of the reasons I never liked him

Didn’t think this day would be happening just yet. Thought it would take NO another year or two to be competing for a SEC title. Glad to be wrong!

King was a) supposedly the best player on the team during the transfer year, b) totally lost when he did play for us, and c) fricking dominant the next year for Middle Tennessee.

Basically 22 and 8 on 50/40/75 shooing for a pretty good team.

I don’t know why I’m looking back at disastrous transfers during the bad years.

Heading into post season let's take a realistic look at who Alabama basketball is and what our true expectations should be.

We are better. In so many ways we are better! We are winning games that we used to lose and we are playing defense quite well.

We have more talent, and the talent that was already here is being developed and used much better.

We are SEC Champs! When most every other team laid the occasional egg and was back and forth during the season, we were consistent. We had a period during January in which we were unbelievable.

But, while we are a pretty elite defense, we are not even a good offense. Sure we have occasions when we go off, but we have had a month in which we have mostly been horrid on offense. That horridness led to losses in every single big match up in February. OK, Missouri and Arkansas. We simply cannot play defense enough to make up for terrible offense against really good teams. We can outlast not so great teams, but that is about it.

So, realistically, we have an okay shot at winning the conference tourney, but, Arkansas is playing the best basketball right now and should be the favorite. I would love to think that having won the regular season championship will loosen us up and let us shoot better, but I don't truly believe it. Lay ups and point blank shots have always been a struggle. Also, no reason to think 3s are magically going to start falling.

We will pick up a 2 or 3 seed in the NCAA tourney. Great to be back! But, the Sweet 16 is pretty much this team's limit. The deeper we get, the better teams are going to be and we will get back into the OK, Missou, Arky thing again.

So, let's be really happy for what the team has accomplished. It's been a great ride. However, let's not get ourselves in a place where we are just going to get disappointed and angry.

As some folks have noted before, the tourney is where you run across teams that are hot at the right time. We could run across a mid-major in the first round that won their tourney and is sky high and they could go off from behind the arc and beat us. Same with the second round game.

We are much, much better, and there is a lot to be proud of, but we just aren't "there" yet.

But we commin'.

As for your post...Alabama has issues just like every team in the country and yes Gonzaga has them as well now if YOU think Alabama offense isn't good then bet against them in the next big game! We are wide open on 3pt shots and we rim out on multiple occasions! We've also been pressing alot on offense by doing to much sometimes but when everybody settle back this team is pretty darn good! This wasn't a FLUKE! Mizzou & Arky just wanted it more but are either team better than Bama...HELL NO

Right after the UGA game, what was the obvious reason to think we were going to go into a slump from three?

UGA: 60.0%
VAN: 25.6%
ARK: 33.3%
MSU: 25.0%

Average is 36% - which is damn good.

We weren't great the three previous games before UGA either, but we are shooting 35.9% as a team from three on the season over 25 games. There is a reason that a mean exists and there is a reason that regression to the mean exists as well. Teams can have bad shooting nights and if they have several of them in a short window, it can be considered a slump. But, imo, there is no reason to assume that a slump from a smaller sample size should outweigh a sample size that is 3, 4, or 5 times larger.

Yeah I worry more about some of our other problems. The inability to get to the rim and finish. The truly bizarre decisions we make in transition that seem to basically be encouraged.

The shooting will be largely (on average) ok I think.
