Thats awesome, cant wait to watch that. If Tennessee plays like they did vs Kansas it should be a good game.

Seems every season, we lose a key player or 2, critical to our team's longterm success.
This year it's Bruner.
Hopefully, if he's able to successfully get back on the court, he'll be able to reestablish the rythem he was in before injury. We'll see.
Also, with Herb the warrior, not missing any games, he's current physical status is a concern.
If we've clinched SEC, getting a game or 2 off end of the regular season might help his situation.

I'd rather sit him somewhere in the stretch we have coming up of SC, Georgia, TAMU and Vandy than at the end of the season. We probably win all those games pretty easily without him.

We have @Miss St, @Arkansas, and Auburn to close out the season, I think we need him for those games.

The Vols/Gonzaga thing is a twitter prank. Whoever is responsible hoodwinked all of Twitter so kudos to them

I disagree...I think we play him here to ensure wins and go ahead and lock it up

You don't sit players at the end of the season in CBB vs good teams just because you have clinched the league, it's not the NFL.

NCAAT seeding is too important to do that. We lose any of those last 3 games of the season there goes our 2 seed.

Random thoughts: REALLY wanted that OU game for resume' and because frick Oklahoma. But wasn't surprised.

Not sure how the LSU game goes this week, we should win, but we aren't playing well. However, I have no doubt we will get boatraced in CoMo unless we find the team that was running roughshod over the SEC. I'm afraid that team is all on IR.

Mark my words, save this post. I've been watching Bama basketball for too long. When we make the tourney, the committee will give us the worst, most disadvantaged matchup in the hardest bracket they can come up with. They have always hated Alabama basketball and always will. Round 1 will be against the hottest mid-major in the country or against someone like Dayton: someone with an axe to grind. Probably in the Far West bracket where Gonzaga is the #1 seed and we'll be the #5 seed and we will have to face them in the Sweet Sixteen. Or same with Midwest and Baylor, but make no mistake, they will give us a draw that will make you go WTF?
This does not make sense at all.

If we clinch the SEC with 3+ games left I have no problem with resting players. Having a healthy Herb is way more important than seeding

Probably not a prank, I think Gonzaga is playing Tennessee-Martin, and someone got confused.

I think thats probably accurate. Oats sounded like he thought Bruner would be back in a limited capacity by Mizzou, now it’s changed to 3 or more weeks. Something had to have happened.

Oats has consistently said mid February.

Makes way more sense to me to sit him now vs bad teams than at the end of the season vs good ones. Making him play through pain for 3 more weeks then sitting him after that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Eh, idk. I'm calling BS on that unless he has inside info from the actual medical staff. Oats has never said he would be back that soon and we've also heard nothing relative to a setback.

Yeah, it's BS. Bruner's timeline has always been mid February, with the possibly the Mizzou game being his earliest availability. And that was best case scenario.

Anyway, I'm still high on this team. We've struggled offensively the past 3 games, but our team defense is going to keep us in every game left on our schedule. We have the shooters to break our offensive funk. A hot night from Shack, Petty, Primo, and/or Reese can wake them up hopefully. At this point, I think Quinerly's confidence is shot and there's little hope for him to become the PG we need him to be. I'd love for him to prove me wrong though. And it was encouraging to see Ellis have a good game Saturday, on both ends. Perhaps more PT from his is the answer.

Sounds like the timetable is late February now.

The part about Bruner playing vs Oklahoma does sound like BS. The part about him having a setback I think sounds true, cause it went from maybe Mizzou to now at least 3 weeks away it sounds like.

I always thought getting him back by mid February was a fantasy anyway. I think it will be late February.

Shortly after the game on Saturday, I was probably a bit harsh on the team's play. After reviewing some of the game, I think overall fatigue and Herb's injury played a role in the less than stellar (Petty) shooting on Saturday.
I really hope they can get some of the guys (Bruner) well and ready to play. It might have been best to sit Herb last Saturday but I think Coach Oats felt the game was important enough to play him. Hopefully the team can get their second wind to finish the season strong and get a higher seed in the tournament.

I would try to get him through this next 3 game stretch (LSU, Mizzou, South Carolina) and rest him against Georgia, A&M, and Vandy.

Tomorrow will make it three weeks since Bruner was injured. The initial timetable was 6-8 weeks and then was adjusted to "most likely 4-6 weeks". Bruner is right on schedule according to Oats. The guy that was quoted from another board sounds like complete BS. Don't fall for it unless Oats comes out and says something to the contrary.

Oats said 4 to 6 weeks from the start, thats the estimate the Drs. gave him he said.

I agree that the other story from the guy on rivals is probably BS, I know the part about him maybe being back for Oklahoma is.

quote:

@Charlie_Potter
Nate Oats on Jordan Bruner: "He was actually able to get some shots up yesterday after practice. It's not game-speed or anything like that. He looks good. ... The 4-6 (weeks) they gave me initially, I'm hoping is closer to four."

Just rewatched the 1st half and Quinerly was BAD. On offense and defense. Missing reads on offense and Lost his guy on defense a couple times for 3s. His teammates and the coaches were visibly frustrated with him at times.

I am not trying to argue either, didn't mean to come off that way.

It's weird that this is actually the second time Bruner has torn his meniscus, he did it at Yale in a preseason game and missed the whole season because of it.

I am guessing that must have been the more serious, miss three month kind of tear.

quote:

For the most part, meniscus rehabilitation can be carried out at home, although your doctor may recommend physical therapy. Rehabilitation time for a meniscus repair is about 3 months. A meniscectomy requires less time for healing — approximately 3 to 4 weeks.

I assume this time he just had to have a meniscectomy.
