Bill Walton is pretty much ruining this game. It's funny and unique to go off topic every so often. It gets old after he rambles on about the mountains, the Bahamas, etc.. after every play.
Bill is the ultimate 60's hippie, still dancing to the beat of the Grateful Dead even after all these decades. His ramblings and incoherent points are the stuff of legends. Not everyone's cup of tea but neither is Dickie V for my money, and he's made a good living anyway. No accounting for taste.

did we move down in the AP rankings this week?
Posted on 11/30/20 at 12:24 pm to McGregor
Yeah we were 28th as far as those receiving votes, moved down to 30th. Wasn't based on anything we did though, some teams ranked below us had some big wins and moved up. Winning this tournament would be a good way to make a big jump in the rankings.

I'd definitely take Walton over Dickie any day.

Jacksonville State has beaten FAU and South Alabama since our game in Tuscaloosa. Moved up in KenPom from 305 to 269.
South was picked 2nd in the Sun Belt East.

I'm very nervous about tonight. It feels like the first of many "ok, are we really different?" games and I don't think I can handle a resounding "nope".

Yeah I don't think I can emotionally handle a mediocre season with a roster this talented.

I am starting to feel like we win by 10+ points.

My biggest concern is foul trouble for Bruner. The last thing we want to see is Reese having to play lots of minutes guarding Oscar de Silva. That would be a nightmare scenario imo.
Herb guarding Ziaire is going to be a huge key as well. I don’t think we have ever seen Herb get “cooked” by anyone have we? I have all the confidence in the world in Herb to limit or at least slow him down. Ziaire is projected to be the #5 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft and was the #6 overall recruit in his class. By all accounts he is an absolute stud.
Hopefully Jahvon builds on his last performance and that we shoot the ball better overall as a team.

Imagine your introduction to college basketball is being guarded by Herb Jones.

Bruner is good at not fouling, last year he only fouled out once and only got 4 or more fouls in a game twice.
De Silva got 4 or more fouls in a game 9 times last year, would be nice to get him in foul trouble.

If we do end up playing North Carolina it's nice to know that Bruner played against them last year and had a big game.
He got 15 rebounds, 17 points, 5 assists, 4 blocks, and 2 steals last year when Yale played UNC.

They are almost a completely different team this year though.
It would a very interesting matchup of styles if we get to play them.
