If we have 5 losses at the end of the year we are easily a 2 seed. Without home crowd advantages there are a lot of ranked teams losing consistently every week. There will be 2 or 3 teams with insane records then a bunch with 4-6 losses.

Yea the defense is really suspect in the SEC.

8 of the 14 teams in the SEC are top 55 in defensive efficiency. 5 are top 22. Overall the league isn't bad defensively. It may just seem that way because some of the teams who are solid on defense like aTm, Kentucky, and Ole Miss are bad teams overall because they are complete disasters on offense.

Bama just need to keep playing well and keep winning games. Don't have to win all of the games.. If we can get by 1-2 losses, we'll be fine.
Bama don't need to win the SEC tourney to get top 3 seed.

There's a video of her kicking fields goals at Bama's indoor facility somewhere.

I think I recall seeing that.

I could see this. It just seems that way I guess, because you see a lot of 80-95 point games this year. There’s even been a couple 100 point games.

Scoring is up across the board now that teams have adjusted to the new freedom of movement rules and the 3pt line got moved back. Floor spacing in general is much better than it was not too long ago. Trying to play Grantball in the SEC these days would get you killed. I don't know if there's a way to compare tempo across seasons, but if there is I'd bet that a team that is middle of the pack in tempo this year would have been towards the top of the conference circa 2013.

We need to get Bruner back and keep Herb healthy if we hope to do anything in post season play. State just abused us in the paint.

Yeah, rise in scoring is due more to tempo than defensive efficiency.

Yeah I mean LSU is in like the 70s or 80s in tempo nationally and if you stuck that team in the SEC of 8-10 years ago they'd look like they're playing at warp speed.

We discussed it briefly in a different thread last week, but across all of college basketball, tempo really hasn't changed much over the last 20 years, so I was actually a little surprised to see that there has been a noticeable increase in SEC tempo over the last 10 years.

This is just a one year comparison though. An average of the decade would probably be more accurate.

We've been on quiet a roll since SEC play started, winning quiet a few with relative ease.
It was actually good to get a win vs a physical, well coached, no give up Miss.St team, with no injuries.
Kentucky comes in tomorrow night, off a good win, backs still firmly against the wall, desperate for a season, turning point win.

Compare the coaching lineups in the 2010-2011 and the 2020-2021 seasons and it makes a lot more sense.

Just looking at the list, and that was such an ugly period of SEC basketball. The late 00s/early 10s featured Grant, Mark Fox, Trent Johnson, Tony Barbee, John Pelphrey, Rick Ray, Billy Kennedy, Andy Kennedy, and Darrin Horn. That list reads like a mid-major conference, which is essentially what the SEC was back then.

I could see Herb's hard fall on his hip/lower back affecting him a bit in the next couple of games. He was in some discomfort late in the game Saturday night.

That was my exact thought when I looked over it. From the same data, 2011-2015 were the slowest years by measurement of adjusted tempo during the 20 year span from 2002-present. The coaches in the SEC were certainly doing their part.

I will quite literally order 15 pieces of Basketball SEC Champ swag if we do win it. More than all the combined Football National Title swag combined the last decade.
