This is a punch to the gut really ..... both of them were playing so well and we don’t really have anyone behind them that brings what they bring to the table

We can’t handle or be afforded prosperity it seems . Yes I am down

Losing our two best defensive players is going to really hurt on Saturday. Offense needs to show up, because Arkansas might score 80 or 90.

With Alabama basketball you have to expect the worst regardless of the present and celebrate anything above that.

If Herb and Bruner are both out, what does the starting lineup look like now?

JQ
Shack
Primo
Petty
Reese

If JQ is still out:

Shack
Primo
Ellis
Petty
Reese

Any ideas?

Not gonna lie - that is probably the best case scenario from what I was thinking last night.

Dislocated finger is nothing. Herb will be fine very quickly. That is fantastic news.

Meniscus is not great, but there is definitely a chance we get Bruner back by late February for the last week or so of the season and the tournament. If it's less serious, even by mid February. That would be huge.

Let's roll

Where do we go when Reese inevitably fouls out? Rojas? Ambrose-Hylton?

I'd imagine that we'll see more Reese/Rojas at the 5 and a lot more Gary at the 4. But yea, next guy up has to be Ambrose-Hylton.

Maybe Tchikou can pull a Waddle and limp out there?

Are these the confirmed injuries or just that one guy on Twitter?

Alex Reese is the new Riley Norris, Mr. Do it All, so I’m not even worried. Give Reese all the minutes

I think we need to heavily tape Herb up and have him out there Saturday. His defense is too valuable

In most sports it’s not a big deal, but on the shooting hand in basketball it’s definitely not nothing. It just sucks so bad for him since he finally found his shooting stroke this year from both the 3 and FT line. I just hope it’s enough of a sample size for scouts to go on.

I'll be honest - I love Herb's emergence as a shooter, but the things that he adds that we can't get from other guys don't require nearly as much out of his left hand.

When the alternative is he's out for the year, this seems pretty good

I agree it’s definitely better to have him back than not at all, but him being a threat to shoot has been a huge boost to the offense this year. The injury last year didn’t affect us all that much since defenders already sagged and helped off of Jones. The defenders this year have not been able to help off of Jones since he’s a threat to shoot.

But most of all, I honestly just feel bad for Herb. He was playing at a level that was going to get him drafted, but scouts now have to live with a small sample size of shooting improvement to judge him on. It hurt to see that happen and how frustrated he was by it.

Our next two opponents, Arkansas and LSU, play each other tonight at 7:00 EST on ESPN2.

Completely agree with you here. He seemed to finally find the right mix of shooting and driving the last week or so too.

And of course, boom, this happens.
