One thing that kept killing me was seeing UCLA have ball handlers isolated in perfect three man trap position, and we never took advantage.

I just hope Oats isn’t falling into the “play the seniors at all costs” mode. You can afford to do that in football, but not basketball.

If we had shot the same percentage as them from the free throw line we would have won by one point. It was a really even game aside from them making their free throws and us missing most of ours.

Oh, I think coaching and preparation had a lot to do with the two early charges. They'd probably seen every one of Jones's charges the last two weeks on video. Tonight wasn't the first time he'd picked up charges by trying to back his man into the paint.

Nah. He's a warrior. His defensive IQ is off the charts, and he was the leader of this team.
His offense will be easily replaceable though. He finished year missing nearly 20+ consecutive 3s. Then throw in his inability to finish at the rim.

They dictated the game and we just accepted it.
But in the end only one thing mattered - we missed 16 free throws. That's really it. That's the alpha and omega.

I would be less disappointed with it if I agreed with all the “they were the better team” stuff. If we just don’t have an atrocious offensive performance we win in regulation.

It was really always kind of strange how poor he was offensively with how quick he was at his size. Same thing with petty and his ability/lack of consistency

Herb has proven he is a WINNER but I probably would of went with JQ but I don't blame Oats because Herb is a matchup nightmare

What good will it do to be mad at Herb and Shack? shite happens. We’re just a bunch of dudes watching them play, hoping they’ll do well. They wanted to perform well and win that game far more than any of us on this board.
Those guys brought a lot of joy to this thread this year. It sucks and it hurts, but I can’t be mad at any of those guys. I’ll miss watching them play while I’m cheering on the team next year.

We need more shooters. Herb can’t shoot, Petty is streaky. We’ve got to have some guys on the floor that draw out tge D or we shoot them out of the gym.

Yeah, the loss sucked. It wasn’t our best effort, but this has been an incredible season. I think the team is heading in the right direction with Oats. We don’t get here without some of the players that “people” are bashing right now.

Yep. Despite everything else, with respectable free throw shooting, we could've and should've won it in regulation.
