Did y'all ever see her at games?

She sat on the mid-court seats behind the bench, and often had a small child in her lap who belonged to a younger white couple that sat a few rows up behind her.

Really none of my business, I guess, but I was always curious as to who those people were, and how they knew each other that well, especially considering her reputation for not liking Tuscaloosa a whole lot.

I think I really dislike Avery because of Jr.

That's probably where it stems from for me tbh. His antics on Twitter were just so annoying and off-putting. Then you had the daughter tweeting at people and the stories of the wife in the athletic department. All of it was just bad. I'm realizing most of my disdain actually lies with the family more so than with Avery now that i've talked this out in a group therapy moment.

I know all the Jr. stuff... but what are the stories about what his wife did? I don’t recall hearing those.

I knew the minute they hired him it wouldn't work.
NBA coach with no college coaching experience spells disaster.

He was a promoter and personality coordinator just like most all NBA coaches. Like the guy but definitely not a strong coach. Fired by Dallas and no one picked him up after Bama.

Yeah I have no personal animosity towards Avery. His family was just the epitome of born on 3rd thinking they hit a triple though. Honestly I think a lot of Jr.'s issues were pure insecurity. He didn't earn his minutes and he knew it, so he got into it with fans on social media when they pointed it out. If Battle hadn't hired his dad he would have transferred from aTm to some small conference school in Texas where he would have continued to not play because he's not good at basketball.

I don't think anything was ever officially reported or anything like that, but there was a lot of talk about her being overly rude to support staff or other people within the athletic department on multiple occasions. I wasn't there so I can't say if it ever actually happened, but if you hear or read things enough times, there is probably at least some truth to it.

Others may remember better than I do, I mostly just remember it being a thing that circulated for a short period of time towards the end.

Pretty nice compliment from a coach that has been around for as long as he has.

If we are talking in the last few years it's Eric Musselman. In the last 15-20 Pete Carroll

Pete Carroll is a good one. I had no idea how much Musselman got around. I knew he had been a D-League coach, but I didn't know he was an NBA head man in the 2000s.

Yea, the rumors were that she was just rude with people around the program and that she basically hated Tuscaloosa and was in Dallas as much as possible - and told everyone she could how much she missed NBA life.

So it was a win-win situation! I know folks around Tuscaloosa are tickled as hell!

No kidding. Not that I've ever paid much attention to the Association, but I had no idea he was a HC at Golden State and Sacramento. Granted, it was about 15 years, but I don't even remember hearing anything about him until he started to turn heads at Nevada.

It obviously didn't work out the first time around (2 season at GS, less than one in Sacramento), but it's damn impressive to be an NBA HC at 40 years old. Is there any speculation that he wants to scratch that itch again one day? He's been so good at the college level, he could probably get another shot eventually, but at the same time, he might have found his niche.

Herm Edwards had Arizona State going in the right direction before Covid. Jury is still very much out though. Bill O' Brien did a really good job as Penn State's Head Coach

But yea not many

It's been said several times that his era was very similar to the Shula football era, and I certainly agree.

Welcome to the Juwan Gary Stan Club! Alley oop dunks and offensive rebounds are served every Saturday and one Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday per week from November-February. Schedule TBD in March.

Gary reminds me of Reggie King without the scoring arsenal as yet. He may get there still. Reggie was an unstoppable dynamo under the basket; would go against guys 6-10 ,6-11 and they couldn't stop him. First round draft choice of Kansas City Kings. He was only 6-6 but built like a dump truck.
