On one hand I look at his athletic ability and think he's the type of guy you take a chance on in the Spring. We really don't have anyone that can play above the rim. There's Pollard, but he's yet to put it together.

Maybe they have a shooter lined up for the Spring. Maybe they are really confident with Sina. Hell, maybe they think they have players in 2014 locked up that are better prospects than this guy.

My only other thought is they are going after shooters. shite, I don't know.

See if that were the case, I'd understand, but Algie Key is a terrible shooter (15% from deep). I don't mind if we keep a scholarship open if we land Sina, but if we land one of those JUCO guards without even giving this guy a good look, I'll be really disappointed.

Not saying you say this but it seems as though every year we end up saying this when tere are scholarships left on the table. Its just something he cant keep doing if he wants to keep his job IMO. I honestly believe that our offense is soo slow because we play press defense and a uptempo offense would be too much for some of the guys after player full court D. Soo we need depth if we want to see a faster offense IMO.

Rodney Purvis is supposed to transfer from NC State - should be announced today. If you asked me why I thought this was relevant to the thread I'm not sure what I'd tell you.

I wonder why though. I mean they are bringing in Cat Barber but this kid was pretty good.

You posted it because he's going to transfer to here just to piss off his former coach, of course.

But seriously, I can't believe so many NC State fans were glad he decided to stay. Last year they were a top 5 shool talent-wise (2nd behind Michigan IMO) and their studs don't seem to like him any more.

Purvis is going to Uconn. Also those NC State fans are delusional. With all the talent they have they should be much better.

I know he's not going to Alabama, that was a joke. I'm hearing UCONN is likely headed to the ACC. If so, then he can't.

Twitter searched "rodney purvis alabama" just for shits and giggles and found this tweet from 3 years ago...

quote:

@BlueDevilLair: Rodney Purvis will visit Duke, UNC, Florida, Alabama, Miami, VA Tech, and Louisville this Fall.

Didn't know we were ever involved with the kid. Did he ever even visit?

Add this guy to our new list of recruits: @TheRecruitScoop 1m
Alabama offered 2013 La Lumiere (IN) PG Jalen James, his coach said.

Like him. Looks like a pass first PG.

Highlights Sophomore Year
Highlights Junior Year

ESPN Scouting Report:

quote:

Strengths:
Jalen is defined by his explosiveness in transition. He has good size for the point guard position and possesses terrific court vision. He's also a good passer. He's at his best on the break finding guys or finishing. Defensively, he can guard the 1 or 2.

Weaknesses:
Shooting the basketball with consistency to the arc should be at the top of his 'to do' list. We'd also like to see him be better at running his team in the halfcourt.

Bottom Line:
Jalen's an athletic point guard who will fit well in a motion offense and pressure defense. He's a highlight reel on the break.

Maybe he can help get the fast-breaks going.

One of the reasons I wasn't jumping out of my seat over the 6'6 Canadian.

Ehh. Not worried as much with the inconsistent 3pt shooting. An inability to run the half-court set might be a problem with our slow tempo. Looked solid at that in the videos, but it's just highlights. Love what he can do on the fast break though. Maybe it's a sign of Grant trying to go more uptempo?
