So it's definitely us or Seton Hall now. Indiana won't have a scholarship I'm pretty sure.

I hope so. If Sina goes elsewhere and we wait for him and he shafts us in the late period, we screwed. Tarrant (if we get him) might do some patchwork at point, but I still think he's more of a SG. I want a distributor, damnit.

That last comment got me thinking what kind of PG Tarrant was in HS. Here is his ESPN scouting report.

quote:

Strengths:
Tarrant is a very productive point guard. He has a great court presence and does a terrific job setting the pace for his team. Tarrant makes good decisions with the ball whether he is pushing it in transition and setting up the half court offense (NICE). He also does a great job of drawing fouls and converting at the free throw line. Tarrant has excellent speed and quickness and can beat defenders with his ability charge speeds and directions on a dime (NICE).

Weaknesses:
Tarrant can get loose with the ball or hold it too long (shite) from time to time that result in a turnover. He also needs to work on his catch and shoot 3 point shot and pull up going right.

Bottom Line:
Tarrant is a solid, pass first point guard (NICE). He has a very good feel for the game and understands when he needs to be aggressive offensively or simply run the team (NICE). Overall, Tarrant is a very efficient player that excels at his position (NICE).

Overall, I like the scouting report.

Pumped about Sina coming to town. Need to stress how bad this team needs a player like him and make sure he knows. I think he would distribute and stretch the defense a little better than Tarrant but hell...bring him too

Call me crazy, but am I the only one that thinks Sina will have to speed up his release at the college level? I still want the kid.

I think Sina's release is actually decently quick. He's also got the Larry Bird mechanics where he shoots over his head making it damn near impossible to block with out fouling. Near-perfection mechanics IMO, best I've seen out of HS since Reddick.

Even if he did have a slow release, our far and away best 3pt shooter this year has by far the slowest release on the team. Speed of release doesn't matter near as much with the college game as it does in the NBA.

Really doesnt matter in our offense. If he isnt wide open he wont be shooting the ball.
