@bjmillican: #Alabama assistant Dan Hipsher in the building presumably to watch Tide signee Jimmie Taylor & #Greensboro in the final game #Final48
I would assume this means Grant is watching juniors presumably in Georgia

Either that or game planning for Florida since we are in no danger of losing Taylor. I do hope he starts hounding Langford even though we do have a while with him.

I don't know what everyone sees in Taylor..every game I've watch of his he's being pretty meh including tonight..where he looked non existent on the offensive end most of the night and looking to pass every chance he got his hands on the ball.
On the other hand Josh Langford is a beast..simply took over after a shitty first half. 30 pts 16 rebs.

Everyone sees a 6'10 kid with ridiculously long arms who has natural shot blocking ability. No one has raved about his offense. I was hoping he'd be better than Carl and Moussa offensively but that doesn't seem to be the case. He'll be much better defensively though.

I don't give a frick if he doesn't take a single shot all season if he blocks 3 or 4 shots a game and grabs 7 or 8 rebounds.

Just don't see him being much more productive than the guys we already have.

Maybe he won't be. He's a kid that you have to get though. He's in our backyard and he's got all the measurables. Our coaches will have to develop him. If they do, he'll be a good player. If not, he'll be another post player that just puts us at a disadvantage. I asked a media guy about Taylor on twitter and he doesn't think he'll help at all next year. Says he'll get pushed around defensively and can't do anything offensively. Maybe our coaches can help him over the summer

He can dunk, that alone might give him the edge offensively.
As for him getting pushed around, it's going to happen some his first year, but he's not like Pollard who gets his blocks from his athleticism, which is pretty useless when getting bullied. Taylor is a great post defender because of his incredible length and timing. Another benefit to having Taylor in as opposed to Gueye and Engstrom is he can run the floor. I think Gueye will get the starting gig next year for the most part, but it wouldn't surprise me if Grant gave Taylor a shot at it at some point in the season.
BTW I'm not sure what CC was thinking with the Noel comparison. Two completely different types of shot blockers, from what I've seen.

A lot of people have joked about Engstrom since he's been here, but IMO if he doesn't go down, we'd easily slide in to the tournament. Since he went down, when Gueye gets in foul trouble, we have NO defense down low. I certainly don't see us losing the LSU game with him and I could see 1 or 2 less losses with him on top of that game. Sometimes being big and long, is good enough.

Yeah, as much grief as people give Carl, he had become a pretty decent post defender. Not much of a shot blocker or rebounder, but he has gotten way better at positioning himself to alter shots.

He talks a good game. Taylor talks down on other guys on twitter a lot. Hopefully he wont be missing the easy shots he gives other big men a hard time about.

I posted some things about Langford earlier in the thread even some video. Kid is great. Hope he was actually born here and wants to be the program changer that we need.

you criticized me for making a lame comment before regarding Pollard so please excuse my ignorance. We suck right now because we have no offensive post presence. So this new big man will help that part of the game. Gueye is improving daily on blocks and rebounds but sucks on the O side.

Was the game televised? I also agree with you guys with Carl we are easily a tournament team.

carl was getting better on the O side..He still has work to do with rebounding position and fighting for loose rebounds. He has bad hands on balls thrown to him too. IF we can get 5-6 points per game then we will be much improved.

Well I agree with you but we are bringing in Hale who is 6'9 and athletic and can score the ball from the inside and out.

@Kreager: Alabama coach Anthony Grant, Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin and a Florida State assistant here to watch Darius Thompson.

The same night Grant watched Coleman, he also went and watched Algie Key. I think tony Pujol was watching Grayson Allen last night.

@GTuckerF150: 2014 PG Justin Coleman had 19 points, 5 assists & 4 rebounds tonight as Wenonah (AL) captured another state title @JCole30
