Its funny that when I go back and look at the scouting report for our bigs that all of the analyst totally missed on everyone.

Gueye

Moussa will be a senior next year. Carl will be a junior as long as he gets a medical redshirt for this year.

All they need to do is score at a decent efficiency when they get the ball to accomplish that. Even now, most teams still don't leave Gueye much now and he is scoring 1.5 pts on like 35% shooting. The problem their offensive game is causing us is that Gueye and the Swede clog the lane without providing any points.

ESPN was actually pretty spot on with Jacobs.

quote:

Strengths:
Nick is a strong physical power forward who has shown he can score with his back to the basket. He knows how to work to find his position on the block he likes. He has good hands and good footwork around the rim. His go-to move is his right shoulder jump hook which he can get off against most anyone because he is left-handed. Nick knows how to create space for his jump hook with a hard drop step into his defenders chest. He has range out to 15' feet and does a decent job of running the floor in transition.

Weaknesses:
Surprisingly, Jacobs has never shown to be a great rebounder of his position. He has all the tools to become one with soft hands, decent athleticism, and strong body, but he lacks the desire to pursue balls off the rim like they are his. In the future, Jacobs will have to learn some counter moves to his right shoulder jump hook which he lacks to this point. Teams will sit on his right shoulder and force him back left. Finally, Nick shows glimpses of turning it on, but has yet to find a continuous motor while on the floor.

Aside from "He has range out to 15' feet and does a decent job of running the floor in transition", the "decent athleticism" comment and the fact they didn't list post defense as a weakness, that describe Jacobs perfectly. I'd be laughing hysterically about how right they were about him if we didn't have to play him 20-25 minutes a game...

also Grant and his staff really dont need to be out doing shite. They need to be in the lab IMO working on the team we have now.

IMO Grant isn't giving up on this season or anything, but he also isn't stupid. He knows his seat is getting a little warm right now and that our tourney chances are incredibly slim. He also probably knows that this isn't his make or break year, and that next year might be. With a year as critical as next year is for us, I'm sure he is just trying to do everything he can to ensure his team does really well next year.

Dan told me today that he thinks Georgia now leads for Turman. He says he's on campus all the time.

He'll be there for next year at least.

You think? He has made the tournament one time on the backs of a couple of players he didn't even recruit, and is currently in jeopardy of losing season #3 in 4 years on the job. But then again, UGA doesn't give two fricks about basketball so maybe he does get one more year.

If Grant fricks up the 2014 class we are going to have a season similar to what State is currently going through sooner rather than later.

I say we go all out for Coleman, Haas, Riley, and Lee. That way no one can complain. We signed 4 of the best players in AL. They are all local kids who will give their last ounce of effort on the court every night.

The rest of your post was sarcastic but that wouldn't be a bad class. Just not a 'wow' type class.

I think the "get in-state kids no matter what" line of thinking is a bunch of horseshite, but that really wouldn't be a bad class.

Yeah...if we could add a guy like Hill, Jackson, or Cofer to that group it would be an impressive class IMO.

Who are we kidding though...we are going to go all in on a few 5 stars, miss, have no back up plan, and go into the 2015-2016 season with 7 scholarship players.

You are right. I could live with that class. I wouldn't be jumping out of my seat to celebrate it. I'd look at Coleman as the only immediate contributor.

I actually like that class as well. Just wish we could add another wing player. Sucks about Turman though.

Still think we will land at least one of the GA boys. If we get Turman/Cofer and Jackson/Hill with Coleman and fill any remaining spots with any of Haas/Lee/Norris and i'll be thrilled with that class.
