Hodgson needs to be well paid too. That would be a tough loss.

Wilson has high upside but is kind of raw - and unlike some of the other raw kids we had (Miles, KAH) he doesn't have 4 years to smooth out, he has 2.

Pretty sure he has 3 year. I saw someone (can't remember who) that reported he had 3 to play. I'm not sure why, but it could be because the COVID season rule could work for JUCO guys.

Regardless, give me Wilson over Gurley every day of the week. Wilson may be raw, but I don't want a weak defender at the 5 or 4 spots which Gurley seems to be.

It's weird to say, but I like the roster the way it is. Leave it be...

Gurley could have two years left if he uses his covid year, I am pretty sure Wilson will only have two years left.

Gurley has shown that he can score over 20 points in a college game pretty regularly, give me him over Wilson any day, I like Wilson but Gurley is proven.

I don't think it will come down to those two, pretty sure we keep Wilson regardless.

If someone is processed it will be someone already on campus IMO. May have been done before but I have not heard of a signee being let go/released from NLI to make room

He retweeted a guy who said he had 3 left to play. He could've just retweeted him because of the shout out though...

I like Wilson better for what we do. Gurley won't get all the post ups he had at Furman (arguably the best part of his game). I like the switchable defender and shot blocker that Wilson can be for us. I'm a defense over offense guy when it comes to bigs. I also think offensively he will be just fine as he provides a rim-running lob threat as well as a little floor spacing to boot.

Another clarification note: the ability to exceed the 13 scholarship limit with returning seniors is only applicable in 2021-22. Once those returning seniors have left, teams have to get back to 13.

So, as currently written, it only applies to returning seniors non-transfers. But I don't think we have any of those, do we?

Ellis is a rising senior, maybe he somehow can fall under that provision?

Since Ellis enrolled June 1, 2020, maybe he can become a senior before the next fall term and thereby not count toward the '21-22 limit.
If so, we'd only need one departure (Rojas) to take both Burnett and Gurley. The more I think about it, the more I suspect that might actually be the situation.

Wilson should have three years left. I think a lot of people on here sleeping on DMiles. He has a huge upside and he can play 1-3 possibly the four if he gains some weight. You can't teach what he has and NBA teams love big guards and he will be one if he develops properly. He will be a better left handed version of Tyrese Haliburton.

He may have 3 left actually, I didn't know Jucos got an extra year of eligibility this year.

Regardless I would rather have Gurley by a long shot if I had to choose between the two. I like Wilson but love Gurley.

The Covid rule applies to JUCOs just like DI athletes so Wilson should have 3 to play since one of his JUCO seasons is erased.

There’s no way that Oats would want that negative press.

Because this is a message board and if we weren’t discussing uncertainties and the unknown, it’d be boring as hell.

Being able to discuss hypotheticals, without getting bitched at by people that only want to hear great news and nothing against the grain. That's why I left BOL after years, and never bothered signing up for Tide Fans.

I hate for any of these guys to be shown the door. It sucks, but this is a business now.

I hate to say it but If another school were doing this I have a feeling the sentiment would be different. I don’t know enough about the NCAA rules but based on what I’ve read here, Unless Oates knows something about a transfer out that we don’t know, this is a shitty thing to do.

I have a feeling he's already been told that one of the current players (aside from Rojas) is leaving voluntarily.

We should know soon enough.

Exactly, I left BOL because the Mods were such power hungry shitheads, that you couldn’t say anything contrary or break news before they did. If you want to live in an echo chamber, feel free to join tidefans, but get off our asses for actually discussing scenarios.

Unfortunately, there are so many transfers and stuff going on, that the NCAA has backed themselves in a corner. They are basically powerless, even if it’s shitty.

I don’t think the staff would do anything like break a signees LOI to get a transfer or anything but if Gurley is a massive improvement over someone on the roster they should try to get Gurley imo.

We arent even 100% sure we are getting Gurley yet, I think Florida has a shot at getting him too. Id say its 60% Bama and 40% Florida just guessing, basing off what I’ve read/heard.

We don’t know anything. Pure speculation at this point. We might just be losing one player, which would be fine with me
