We were undefeated in mid week baseball a year ago. We’ve lost to Washington state and scraped out a win vs Samford. I love the rainbows but this isn’t a good baseball team.
It’s midweek baseball for southern miss too

they're just trotting out a new freshman every inning and whipping our arse in the process

Arkansas got beat 12-4. Are they a bad baseball team too? Some of yal need to chill out.

I’ve watched every game we’ve played. I don’t need to watch Arkansas or LSU to compare them to us. This isn’t a good baseball team. If anyone on the board wants to make a wager to the charity of your choice that this team doesn’t advance past a regional, and that’s being generous, I’m your huckleberry.
Vaughn probably isn’t the guy. Not a knock on him, I think he’s a good coach, but the program is wandering in the wilderness and it’s going to take a great coach. We need the equivalent of Nate Oats. I think Vaughn could take over Texas A&M tomorrow and get them to Omaha. As it stands, we are treading water. The best kids in Alabama are still leaving the state in large numbers. The lottery isn’t an excuse anymore. 2024 Mr. baseball is content riding the bench at Mississippi State. Hasn’t thrown a pitch for them. He could’ve started in the field here as a freshman a year ago. The program needs a shot in the arm. There’s zero excuse for the university of Alabama to be worse off in baseball than Southern Miss, Coastal Carolina, or Dallas Baptist to name a few

Just my opinion but Vaughn is closing the gap between us and the upper tier sec. This team is talented and its ceiling is Omaha. Baseball is a crazy sport and it’s all about getting hot at the right time. In the past we came out hot and fizzled out. Who knows, maybe this year is the opposite? I’ll just sit back and enjoy the ride

The reality about Alabama baseball is we need our AD to find someone he believes in and let him have a decade to build relationships with high school coaches so they believe in Alabama baseball again instead of telling their kids to enter the draft or go somewhere else.

Yep my point exactly. I haven't watched every game but I do know the general problem Alabama baseball has is high school coaches don't really believe we're a program you put send your kid to if you want them to get development and win big.
Baseball is non-revenue for everyone and the NIL opportunities are minimal compared to football for even schools like LSU. Having a state scholarship for in-state public institutions would help with partial scholarship's true cost but the ultimate issue is not many really believe in Alabama baseball as a developmental program.

We don’t have the pitching or bats to sniff Omaha, what are you smoking? USM just threw like 8 different arms against us like we were some practice noobs and whipped our arse in the process.

I have been around baseball long enough to understand progression. Will our guys make the appropriate adjustments as the season goes along? Maybe, maybe not. That’s the beauty of baseball. You can be negative all you want but suggesting that a team is already out of it after the first 9 games is extremely premature judgement.

If nothing else, these games where Wazzu and Southern Miss whip our arse and we scrape by against Samford ought to open their eyes that their level of play isn’t adequate even for early season games. They’d better wake up and find another gear before the SEC schedule starts or they will just be weekend batting practice for the league.

Bama is dead last in team BA and third from bottom on team ERA. So someone who is a spin master please tell me we are going to be good when SEC plays starts.. We will be lucky to get to 10 wins in SEC play.

We’re up 6-1 against Iowa in the 7th
Fay pitched 6 innings
I’ve missed all of it but his last pitch in the 6th was a sick 95mph FB with a ton of movement on it that caught the outside corner.
