A really good turnout in Hoover for the Tide today. What a game for Tyler Fay! And Brady Neal with the long ball to the deepest part of the field. On to Wednesday.

Fay’s Career Day Propels No. 9 Seed Alabama Baseball Past No. 16 Seed Missouri in SEC Tournament
Tyler Fay’s career-high 6.0 innings pitched paced the Crimson Tide to a 4-1 victory
HOOVER, Ala. – No. 9 seed Alabama baseball, led by starting pitcher Tyler Fay, opened its run at the 2025 Southeastern Conference Tournament with a 4-1 win over No. 16 seed Missouri at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium on Tuesday. The win improves the Crimson Tide to 41-16 overall, as Alabama advances to the second round of the SEC Tournament.
Fay (1-2) picked up his first win of 2025 on Tuesday, and deservedly so. The redshirt sophomore tallied a career-high 6.0 innings while matching his career-best strikeout total with six punchouts. Fay's lone blemish was a solo home run in the third, as the big right-hander scattered five hits while issuing just one walk. Matthew Heiberger relieved Fay in the seventh, managing a pair of outs before Braylon Myers stranded the tying run at third to end the inning. Myers allowed just one hit while striking out two in 1.1 innings of relief. Carson Ozmer took the baseball in the final inning, leaving the bases loaded to notch his 17th save of the season.
Justin Lebron reached base in all four of his plate appearances, finishing 1-for-1 with an RBI single and three walks. Kade Snell also produced an RBI knock as part of a two-run fourth, as his run-scoring single gave the Tide its first lead of the afternoon. Will Hodo was 0-for-2, though the senior worked a walk and lifted an important sacrifice fly in the seventh. Brady Neal was one of two Alabama players to contribute multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Brennen Norton also managed two hits in the nine-hole, closing his day 2-for-4.
From Head Coach Rob Vaughn
I thought Tyler Fay was absolutely outstanding today. That was the story of the day because we didn't have a lot going off (Sam) Horn. (Justin Lebron) gets a huge two-out hit to get us on the board. Kade (Snell) follows it up with another one, but you don't get that unless you have Tyler Fay do what he did right there, which is go out and just pound the strike zone, execute pitches on short rest. What an unbelievable year (Fay's) had up to this point, started in the pen, was kind of moved into the rotation on short rest at LSU and turned in an unbelievable start there. And every time he touches the baseball, he gives us a chance to win, and I know our team is very comfortable playing behind him. He keeps getting better. He's a competitor, he's tough, he's all those things you look for out of a starting pitcher. Proud of how we executed today, proud of how we grinded that game out. It was a game of attrition. You're just fighting to get to the next day. And we got Tennessee tomorrow morning, so we'll get rested up and get ready to go for a good one tomorrow.

If you can get 85-90% of your postseason innings out of Quick, Adams, Fay, Heiberger, Myers and Ozmer, you have a shot.

Are you putting those guys in ranked order? Would you pitch Adams before Fay?

Just got back from the game.
A couple of thoughts:
1 - Fay has been impressive. Looked good today. I even think coach pulled him too early.
2 - Hodo struggled at first. That was a tough day.
3 - Hitting came thru iwhen needed.
4 - Id rest Ozmer until next Friday.

More time for Quick to convince them he needs to start

Can someone explain why Quick WOULDNT start? He’d have 5 days rest. If not Quick, who in the world would start? It’d be a guaranteed loss.

Because we’re a lock to host and we don’t have the starting pitching to win this gauntlet of a tournament.
We’d have to win tomorrow + 3 more games. That seems like an impossibility.
We’re going to have to win with Blackwood or Finateri or Alcock on the mound eventually this week so it might as well be tomorrow.
That said, I have no idea who pitches tomorrow. He pitched Fay on four days rest so who’s to say he wont do it with Quick. I feel like Quick threw a lot more pitches against UF though.
Side note: We’ll also have Fay available Sunday if we were to get there. I would imagine he would be very limited (like 2 innings emergency situation).

I just don’t think we are a lock. I hope you’re right because I’ve already pre ordered my tickets.

The only win we got against Tennessee was when Zane pitched against Doyle. His rest is even shorter

We just won our 17 conference game and are #9 RPI. That oughta be enough.

Saw a projection just yesterday on the SECN during the game that Bama was not a lock and projected as a 2 seed. Those that are saying we are a lock dont know shite. We probably need to win today and one more. Even then a 2 seed is probably going to be it

I think D1 baseball is what the SEC is using and they are very reputable. There are many other projections, though, that also do have us hosting. If we are not chosen as a host, it's because the committee is putting an artificial cap on SEC teams doing so, because our resume certainly warrants it. Or they could be considering the Tuscaloosa crowds, which are not stellar compared to many of the other teams that will be hosts. I will agree that I don't think we are a lock, but I also don't know what the committee is thinking.

Quick wants to pitch. It is his turn in the rotation. I would roll him out for 3-4 innings and see how things go. It is a good opportunity to get another quality win.
Adams has less rest than quick and Quick is simply better than Adams. I would let Zane rest until regionals and see if he can’t get his confidence back. I would not throw him out there against Texas if we beat Tennessee We need him to be good going forward.

My understanding is that it's not a Quick vs. Adams situation. There's no way Adams takes the mound before Thursday. It would probably be someone like Blackwood today.
Fay bounced back on short work, but he also didn't go as deep or throw as many pitches as Quick last weekend.
Honestly I'd love to win today, but I think we'd be in a better spot having all the starters fresh and ready to work deep next weekend as a 2 seed than having guys trying to recover as a 1-seed.

K well ESPN has not listed an official projection and I don’t believe they will.
SECN hosts are going to dialogue back and forth all week with a lot of hypotheticals and what-ifs.
BaseballAmerica and D1Baseball both have us hosting.
I’ll be sure to let Kendall Rogers know that he don’t know shite.
