Note: he last pitched for Bama in 2024. Wasn’t on the 2025 roster

I think Hines hit 20 or 21 homers this year. Pretty sure he led the nation at the HS level. Dude has crazy pop.

I think he was in the portal for about 3 hours.

May not get on the field there either. But Clemson probably figures a live arm like that is worth taking a flyer on.

It’s not like he didn’t get a chance.

5 G, 3.2 IP, 3 H, 6 BB, 3 WP, 2 HBP, 9.82 ERA

My guess is that is kind of what happened during intersquad and live ABs too.

He was supposed to graduate high school in 2024, but graduated early and enrolled at Bama. Probably not the best move in retrospect. I was excited when he arrived - sorry it didn’t work out. I wish him the best (except when he’s playing against Bama).

I don’t really understand that reclass stuff. I think the vast majority would benefit from staying and enjoying their senior year. Maybe it’s to be able to get drafted sooner? Assuming you aren’t a draft prospect out of HS?

Two posters on BOL report Connor Ball as being listed in the D1 Baseball portal tracker. I haven’t seen anything concrete to confirm, but it wouldn’t surprise me. If true, I hope he finds a good landing spot. Will wait for an official announcement before updating the roster.

This is off season news and discussion, right?

We’re seriously going to keep Jason Jackson, aren’t we? Because his contract was extended through 2026? I was hoping he would walk away. Working on that state retirement.

but Pawlllllllllllllll. As Coach Bryant would say it is about the JImmy's and the Joe's. I think a better job needs to be on the evaluation front. Along with the development front but you cant make lemonade out of sour grapes and it is possible we got some sour grapes. But I am just sitting on my couch so what do I know

That alone should be enough to send him packing.

How do we have ten (10) pitchers on our roster that logged less than 10 innings this year? Only two of which were freshmen.

How do you miss on that many pitchers as a pitching coach? Some of these came out of the portal and should have had plenty of tape out there to evaluate.

Did they somehow magically forget how to throw strikes when they got to UA? Why?

You’re telling me we have ten pitchers that we cannot depend on to get an out? Why were they here in the first place? Why are they occupying roster spots and (I’m assuming) taking some sort of scholarship money that is so hard to come by?

My guess is Bama Central (SI.com) is watching the same BOL poster who is reporting D1 Baseball’s roster tracker vs having an actual inside source.

quote:

A source indicated to BamaCentral that a pair of pitchers, right-hander Zach Kittrell and lefty Connor Ball, are transferring. Kittrell only spent one season at Alabama, with a 9.64 ERA spread across five games (including a midweek start). Ball spent four years with the program but didn't play in 2024, working to a 9.00 ERA in 11 2025 showings (with just five innings pitched). Ball has appeared in a combined 24 college contests to date.

At what point are you like "You know what? I don't think Baseball is for me. I'm just going to enjoy college with what little time I have left."?

I guess if you love the game you might as well keep playing for as long as someone will have you. I don’t see anything wrong with it.
