I hope that wasn't the intention, because it's going to have the exact opposite effect. The high profile programs in the parts of the country where college athletics are a big deal will see the most benefits, and then you'll have media outlets begin questioning whether this was a mistake when Pac-12 athletes see minimal financial windfalls from it because - spoiler alert - people on the West Coast continue to not give a frick about college sports.

This is very true!
I really hate to see this, because it's going to destroy amateur sport in this country as we know it. The entire amateur system in this country will be destroyed...it's a shame.

Most people who experience success become very set in the ways that brought them that success.

What's wild to me is that Saban is resistant to change about a lot of things, as evidenced by his negative comments on the lack of defense in the modern game, the uncertainty of the transfer portal, and other issues. It's just that he's so practical, he can recognize when something is happening despite him wishing it wouldn't.

He's not being innovative because he seeks it out, but he just recognizes when something is inevitable and decides that if it's happening anyway, he might as well be the best at it.

It's incredible.
