BOL is reporting that former Auburn assistant Derrick Nix has interviewed for the open WRs coach position.

He formerly worked with Freddie Roach and Jason Jones at Ole Miss. As well as with Kane Wommack at Southern Miss.

I dunno. Guy seems like he can close on receivers in recruiting. Worth considering at least.

Bama can get em just fine....we just need someone who can develop them. I wasnt impressed with Auburn receivers at all. I thought Shephard was pretty solid and it seems the unit has missed him(or at least his 100% involvement. I dont think hes been with team for last two games but could be wrong)

Nix didn’t coach WRs at Auburn. But he did coach WRs under Lane at Ole Miss from 2020-2022.

He was a beast Running Back for Southern Mississippi back in the day.

He had to retire from football due to a kidney ailment. His brother donated one to him.

Was originally going to sign with Alabama back in 1998.

He’s a good guy and can coach. Florida is trying to get him too, we need to keep him at home.

I think we need a new QB coach. Sheridan isn’t developing players.

May be worth it if it curries any favor in the Coleman sweepstakes.

He's got that Auburn stink on him for sure, but he's a good recruiter and produced some pretty good WRs at OM. I wouldn't hate it.

You have a QB with 3200 yards passing and a 26/5 TD/INT ratio. Boy we are spoiled if that’s not good enough.

"He should have 5200 yards, 48 TDs and 0 INTs!"
- Some people on this board, probably

He’s only been at the Barn for two years out of a 22-year coaching career. I doubt he has a lot of loyalty to them other than as a paycheck. If I am not mistaken, Bama offered him as a linebacker out of high school, but he went to Southern Miss because he wanted to be a running back. Again, I think he would be a good one for us, an old-school and native of Alabama presence on the staff.
