41 games into Jarins Alabama career and he has had maybe 5 good games.

Dude was a reclassified freshman who played big in the NCAAT. He hustled every time he hit the court.

You can believe what you want, but the guy has potential and will be a good player for us. Just needs to get out of this shooting slump.

That’s best assessment of his game. We win this game if we didn’t put the ball in his hands instead of Philon. Philon drives with a purpose. Sears drives to beg for a foul which is not always a good thing on the road.

lol…guess Clowney did in 0, which is why he got drafted in 1st round. Good take

Clowney is a much better defender than Stevenson.
If Stevenson could play defense as well as Clowney, even if he didn't make a single 3-pointer, he would be on the floor, but Stevenson's defense is also terrible.

It is always disappointing to lose, but this game provided valuable experience for our younger players. The SEC and NCAA tournaments will be on neutral courts. I like our chances going forward.

I saw some good things and definitely some bad things. Getting abused in the paint was something I definitely wasn’t expecting to happen this year. The lack of adjustments was concerning too but it’s just game 4 in a tough environment. I don’t expect us to look like a well oiled machine just yet but it’s gotta get better quickly with this schedule.

I was not able to watch or listen but does anyone think bama being lack luster in their previous two warm up games was a sign of things to come today?

Stevenson’s defense has been serviceable since late last year. He’s actually had 2-3 good defensive games in the last 5-7 games. He’s not as good as Clowney, but his defense isn’t a liability like it was early last year.

You guys get narratives in your head and then look for plays in games that confirm your narratives, rather than watching games objectively

I think it's clear we are more rounded than last year, but this schedule night not reflect it.

However the three point shooting had been consistent, and it's been a struggle

I do.
There were some good moments today, but finishing the game on like a 28-14 run by Purdue is just not complete basketball.
Rarely in games does a team play a full 40 minutes of great basketball.
Even the best teams. But what separates good from great is limiting the poor play to a minimum, like 4 minutes total.
But we've strung together 8-12 minutes of sub par play in each of our last 3 games that great teams don't have.
I could close my eyes tonight and hear Tom Roberts on the radio saying "It's been 4 minutes since Alabama has made a basket"

He has to be a better defensive rebounder, he has a tendency to vanish on the boards. I'm not going to pile on Stevenson, I'm going to give him a chance. But he has to get tougher because Dioubate does crash the boards on both sides and he offers us a guy who gets cheap baskets which a lot of times we need when struggling to shoot

Stevenson is the worst player on offense this season. And he's the worst defensive forward in Bama. There's no player worse at defense than him.

Overall, I'm not terribly disappointed outside of getting bodied around a bit in the paint. We can fix some of that as the season goes on. Purdue made a lot of big shots and we missed a lot of open looks. Nate still is allergic to timeouts, but I'm used to that now and will continue to tell myself its all part of his master plan

Between Sears and Stevenson are the worst defenders on the team. I say Sears is the worst because he barely gives effort on defense. Stevenson at least tries he’s just not very athletic.

Sears and Stevenson have different positions, and Sears plays a big role in the offense, but Stevenson has almost no role in the offense. So Stevenson needs to play a bigger role in defense.

MoD is definitely a better rebounder than Stevenson, but Mo might be the most instinctive rebounder on our whole team.

Stevenson boxed out the guy that abused Grant in a way that made him put Stevenson in a head lock. He didn’t back down and has gotten a lot tougher since early last year. He’s still got room to grow, but he’s been significantly more physical in every game this year.

Other than the Final Four, we didn’t finish the year particularly well

We need an agreed upon way to display sarcasm because I don't know how I should respond to this statement.

Simply put, we were in first place, then proceeded to lose 3 of our last 5 regular season games, and get bounced in the first game of the SEC tournament.
Fortunately, we ended up with a favorable draw in the NCAA only having to play 1 game (UNC) in the region against a team seeded higher than our 4 seed.
All I'm saying is Nate Oats better get serious with this team and get them focused on playing hard together

But Stevenson only managed 1 REB today.

Basketball is a tournament sport. 32-0 would be great, but the tournaments are what matters most.
