Eh, DeBoers team last year played well at home. I see us winning the home games and maybe we find a road win at Mizzou or South Carolina. 8-4 finish to the season.
I'd be ecstatic if we went 8-4...especially if the road win was Auburn. Winning the Iron Bowl is about the only realistically achievable season goal for this team. Playoffs, conference championship? lol.

Yeah people downvoted the s**t out of me like I give a frick, but there are people in Tuscaloosa with long memories about Kiffin. Plus the guy is going to die at an old age while still emotionally a teenager. All fans know is he calls wild hair funky plays that are fun to watch. He’s not the kind of person the powers that be at Alabama want as coach.
I hear what you are saying and I get it but ask those powers that be if they would rather continue with Mr. Aw shucks, golly gee! and continue getting manhandled by lesser teams or would they rather win with a cocky, brash pain in the arse coach that gets it done more often than he loses…at Ole Miss. What could he do in Tuscaloosa with better resources and personnel? Those people need to get over themselves and realize that the game has changed and these players are paid to win, not to love the school that is writing the checks. Image has taken a back seat and while it’s nice, it’s really a luxury you can’t afford. Bring in Kiffin to reenergize the program.

Truthfully? I think some people are afraid he’ll knock up some coed he picked up on The Strip.

Well, what a crappy weekend....
Bama loses, and auburn, Tennessee, and LSU all win in respectable fashion.
When does basketball season begin?

Do you really think Bama has better personnel or resources than Ole Miss ? It was hard to tell on Saturday.

quote:It’s much more than Keenan, unless his leadership could dramatically affect others some way. But this is primarily on the coaches. CFR’s efforts have yielded avg results for years. The pity is that “insiders” say that he is the most demanding on his players. So, it’s not from lack of effort on his part. Maybe it’s lack of technique. I would wonder if the lack of demand from the HC somehow negated his efforts but it was the same, maybe not in degree, under Saban. I don’t know enough to know if it’s lack of talent or technique or motivation or ???
When I heard about Keenan I got a sick feeling.

I think part of the problem with the D line is that we really don't have any dominant DE/DT type players. We have some pretty good or decent ones but not great ones. CKD (on paper) has recruited well with one huge glaring weakness, no big time D linemen.
He's signed guys like Steve Mboumoua and London Simmons, who are projects and probably won't show anything for another two years. He has refused to go after big time DE/DTs in the portal, apparently thinking we can "make do" with what we have.
Finally, we have Freddie Roach who simply does not develop what we have. We honest to God need a proven D line coach who can develop guys and get the most out of them. There's not a damn thing we can do about it right now. It's not like you can go to Home Depot and pick out those type of assistants and install them on the spot.
I have mentioned it before. There are four assistants that all need to shown the door at the end of the season:
Freddie Roach
Christian Robinson.
Chuck Morrell
Kane Wommack
Will CKD have the stones to do this? Or will he pull a Mike Shula and just re-arrange them like chairs on the Titanic as it sinks?

London Simmons actually looked decent Saturday.
Freddie Roach has been a problem since Coach Saban hired him. This ain't anything new.
Get a developer in that position and we will be just fine.

This is Perkins after Bear bad.
No, I was there. This is infinitely worse. Though Perkins was unlikable, he was a legitimate D1 football coach. He could address issues. It does not appear that this staff understands what is wrong. They really believed, coming into the season, that things were fine. They did not purposely mislead the media or anyone else. They did not know, and IMO, still do not know what is wrong.
IMO, they cannot fix the problem because they do not know what is wrong. They thought and think that their soft/positive approach is the way. It worked out west and got them through last year because of the little bit of granite left from the Saban era.
Frankly, to change would invalidate everything there are and believe in relation to coaching football. I’m speaking primarily of the head man. Because whether the assts believe in it or not, the HC sets the tone and they have bought in to it to some degree.
It appears to be essentially unfixable. As rigor mortise sets in, there will be a few spasms but they will be false signs of life. The program is dead in the hands of this staff.
Btw, I was excited by this hire and was looking forward to this year with more anticipation than any year since 2020. But strangely, I’m not that surprised or disappointed.
So, we wait for the ptb to act.

At Alabama, DeBoer has beaten 3 ranked teams and lost to 4 unranked teams.
