AJ was upset when the deal fell through with trading him to the Browns.

The Browns may suck, but AJ wants a chance to play and they give him that chance.

I find that strange since a deal was made earlier in the season but the Browns were late getting the paperwork in...seemed like the Browns really wanted him...

They agreed to trade their second round and third round pick for AJ. The 49ers only gave up a second for Garoppolo. Jackson would put his career up for AJ in a heartbeat. Add to that is that Jackson has only won 1 game the last two years and he needs a QB that already is familiar with his offense and is NFL ready now.

AJ fits what the browns need and Cleveland is where AJ seems to want to be.

AJ is getting $15M per from someone this off season. I'd bet it's Cleveland.

Best position in the NFL is backup QB.

Hue Jackson already agreed to trade a huge chunk of his draft for AJ, but they sent the papers in six minutes late.

The only way AJ doesn't end up in Cleveland is if they think there is a franchise QB with immediate starting ability in the draft, or if another team outbids them.

With Todd Haley there now and Hue Jacskson always having liked him, he’d be in a good spot in Cleveland. As a Steeler fan, as much as I hate to say it, the Browns will be in a good position to win soon. They have young talent and an absolute ton of draft picks. Their new GM is classic football guy as well, no more moneyball bullshite.

Yeah, things aren't as bad as they look in Cleveland. They have a serviceable o line, a good defense, and some playmakers on offense with Gordon back, and Coleman has a lot of potential. Duke Johnson is a good rb too, although they should draft another good rb in the upcoming draft IMO.

And if they really want to go all in on AJ, they could move that #1 pick to another team looking for their qb and really be able to make a lot of moves. Would still have the #4 plus whatever additional they can get - and you have to think that 2 of the first 4 picks will be qbs so really wouldn't even be giving up much in terms of they would get (assuming they don't want to draft a qb as well as sign AJ)

He will be a brown. They will sign him, the top olinemen, cb, and Jimmy Graham. Then they will take Barkley 1st overall and trade back out of 4th. They will not draft a qb at all. Hue has 1 more year to prove his worth. Haslam loves hue and the GM has been charged with making Hue successful. Hue knows he can win with AJ. The Browns are very talented. They are 2 years away from a playoff birth.

I’m sorry but no. The Browns will find a way to frick it all up like they always have. That front office is one of the biggest jokes in all of American sports.

They need number 1 overall to get Barkley. He'll never make it back to number 4 with the Giants and Colts both in need of a RB. They should(and will imho) trade back from 4.

He’s the 9th GM they’ve had since 1999. The front office maybe new but it’s still the same ole Browns. I just don’t know how anyone can have faith in the franchise that has sucked big time since the turn of the century. So I really really hope AJ doesn’t go that eternal dumpster fire.

I mean, its hard to have faith in any team that went 1-31 in the past two years, however, they seem to have enough pieces to where an AJ Mccarron would make them exponentially better. I think that 'playoff contender in 2 years' might be overkill considering how incredibly awful they've been, but they would be A LOT better than 0-16, IMO.

I think the only way he doesn't end up in Cleveland is if they've decided to take Darnold with the 1st or 4th pick.

I doubt they take a qb at 1st or 4th. Haslam loves Hue and would hate to fire him. If he doesn't win this year it's gonna be tough to keep him with the fan base already on edge. A top 10 QB (like Brees or Cousins) or a QB that is talented and knows Hues system(like AJ) are the only way he's gonna win this year. Rookie qbs don't win unless they are in a great situation. The best player to draft for the Browns is to get Barkley at 1st overall.

I’d be fine with Cleveland if Josh Gordon could keep his head out of his arse

If they sign AJ they will likely still draft a QB. You have to. AJ is an unknown asset, sure we think he can be legit, but they need insurance. You draft a Rosen or Darnold at 1 to learn behind AJ, and if AJ is just decent but passable then you move on from him in a few years with the youngster. If AJ ends up being a really good starter, you trade the backup ala Jimmy G for assets.

They already have an insurance policy in Kizer. Imho this GM was brought in because he said he could give Hue the pieces he needs be successful. If they don't win 6+ games this year they are both gone. Drafting a 1st round project qb doesn't do anything to help that cause.
