How do you run the ball with a lackluster interior O-line and average running backs?

Are there formations and schemes that can be cooked up in 2 weeks that can do this...without utilizing the QB in the run game? I think if you can replicate the way you moved the ball against OU the first game, you can win for sure...but the QB got hit too much and it just carries too much risk against a D that is excellent at creating game changing plays.

The OU game CAN be won with defense and field position. EVERY game past FSU where Bama has been able to play field position ball, the defense has created turnovers...but Bama really needs to play some 3 yards and cloud of dust IMO against OU and get some first downs to safely play this game

OU and UGA won because they did nothing on offense due to their trust in their defense. You can’t create negative plays if all they’re doing is run, bubble screen, and quick outs. Essentially just let our offense melt in front of their defense then their offense pounced on some bunny layups.

When we run the ball don’t have so many slow delayed hand offs. Just run a quick hitting power attack

Exactly, this must be avoided at all costs. Special teams also is gonna have to nut up. Im perfectly fine with Bama punting in this game. Any time the OU offense has to start inside their own 25 yard line is a HUGE advantage to Bama

Id really love to see this. If we can bait their D-line into doing their stupid arse stunts that they love to do and hit them hard and fast with a run, that is a recipe for success

Instead of trying to line up and go meat to meat, you could spread the field out. This is what spread teams have been doing for years.

And UGA flipped the field due to their outstanding punter.

Watch film of a number of teams with inferior talent yet still manage to have some semblance of a running game.

Love Joe. He wouldn't last 15 minutes trying to coach today's players.

It's Ovah but you guys just will not admit what your eyes are clearly telling you.

Need more wildcat with Germie and Jam. It skips the handoff and doesn’t give the defense as much time to shed blocks.

Our OL is too fat to handle the speed of the DL and LB and cover the gaps in the spread

How does spreading the field stop them when they are still going to have more tackles in the box than we do?

Their safeties are playing close to the scrimmage line. Even if we block perfect they always have one more man

That’s one of the reasons people keep saying let’s get DeBoer’s guys in although as has been noted he’s got a lot of his guys in the line. Maybe that needs to be changed to linemen that are optimal for his offense, which are athletic, mobile players rather than brick houses.

Yeah, there's no way a guy like Proctor fits in with DeBoer's offense, but the dude is such a monster, there's really no option but to go with him.

Probably my most anticipated position group going forward, since everything else outside of TE and DL look loaded for the future.

Earlier in the season, we were using wr screens as an extension of our run game. I have not seen much of that the last 5-6 games. Is there a reason we haven't done that lately?

Its a thought. I think Ty really loosens up in these type situations and doesnt feel super comfortable when we are purposely slowing down(though it is often necessary).

Itd be risky to play so wide open against OU moreso than any other team in playoff since I truly believe field position and not turning ball over is a safe formula for winning against them
