Disagree. Maybe the actual inside arena part, but most of the athletic dept. administrative offices and other parts of the athletic dept transformed with the upgrades to Coleman.
The concourses were also made nicer.

The are probably waiting on the upgrades to Coleman until the arena in Birmingham is finished.

I’d like to see us play our midweek Homegames in Foster or Huntsville. And then play our big Saturday games at the BJCC

They sold that renovation as a transformation of the facility. It was not. It was a concourse upgrade and new chairs.

I vividly remember walking around before the Notre Dame game and universal reaction being like "really?".

When they gutted Foster they took capacity down to 3,800. That's way too small, even for bad mid-week games. If it sat 5-6K I'd be fine with it, but that's just not enough.

You can't play SEC basketball games in a facility like this.

As an example - St. Johns small on campus arena seats 5,600. Villanova's on campus arena seats 6,500.

I got pretty excited when I first walked in. They did do a pretty good job with the concourses and bathrooms. Then I went into the actual arena, and was all WTF? It's the same damn place with new seats?

I don't doubt the offices and such got a nice, needed upgrade. But selling the reno to the fans as a complete upgrade was BS, and was obvious the second you walked through the portal into the arena itself.

Exactly - if it was just a renovation of internal offices and such, that's fine, but don't sell it to all of us as a grand re-opening.

Hell, I still have that plastic ticket they gave us. They made it into a big event, the new Coleman, etc, etc.

Didn't Oats say everything the players use is very nice. They renovated all their lockers, practice area, everything they use on a daily basis. They also renovated all the rest rooms that we use. If they come through with the new renovation as shown in the videos they produced, it will all be first class.

They built Coleman for 4 million dollars, which is supposedly 30 million in todays dollars. The reno was 24 million. I would say it has been a great investment considering the heavy use they have gotten out of it.

He’s not saying there wasn’t anything done with the 25 million spent on Coleman, just that it shouldn’t have been sold as a total renovation. The main area of Coleman, the actual arena itself, was hardly touched. So how can you sell it to fans as a “New Coleman” when the part that fans spend the most time in is still a dumpster fire?

All of the renderings I've seen are specifically targeting the actual arena itself. So that will get remedied itself.

I agree the last renovation was to the outlying areas like offices, lockerroom, recruiting area, lobbies and practice facilities.
The arena itself was not fully addressed.

I believe the whole $115 million is going to the arena itself. It would almost have to considering everything that's going to be done. It's a complete overhaul. I mean there's going to be an upper deck. They're having to remove the roof to get some of this done.

There's too many offices, lockerrooms, lounges that have received substantial upgrades that are attached to the arena to tear the whole thing down

It arena is essentially a tear down. Like Sewell Thomas.

No, I'm pretty sure that's called "Reality".

But by all means, you guys keep crying about how other people spend their money.

The funny thing is - until I came to this forum and had to listen to all the bullshite, I was WAYYY more sympathetic to it all. At this point, I'm just like screw it.

I dunno, but I actually do wish we cared. Hope Auburn in the Final Four lit a fire under our arse.

Well I can promise you this - people blaming football for everything and pretending anyone who doesn't support basketball is "less than" ain't going to get anything done.

People alienating the fan base will only cause the loss of support.

Lots of people just plain out don't like the sport. It's not like I just don't like "Alabama basketball", in fact the only basketball games I will ever watch are Alabama games. People aren't out there being Kentucky, UNC or Duke fans, they just aren't fans of the sport at all.

Could you imagine people trying to alienate and put down people because they aren't watching rowing? Is it because they are just terrible fans who didn't go to Alabama and don't care about the University, or is it because they just don't care about the sport of rowing itself?

This isn't really directed at you, it's just the attitude I've encountered on this forum and quite frankly they can all kiss my "Football only arse".

I’m one of those people that get heated if someone likes only football and brags about it. Everyone is their own person and only liking football is fine, I just dislike when people let it be known they don’t care about other sports and say shite like, “Who cares, it ain’t football”. I would just rather people keep opinions like that to themselves.

The practice facility and recent locker room renovations are very well done from what I read.

Sure, but like all capital projects there comes a time where you fall critically behind.

By other people you mean the Athletic Foundation? Are we now not commenting on UA capital projects?
