Coming in for A Day again this year. I can't remember where y'all told me to stay last year. It was a good trip last year. We went to a Mississippi Braves game in Jackson, then drove over and stayed in Meridian. Got up and drove over Saturday morning for the game, ate with the team, drove back. Seemed like there was somewhere better to stay though that someone listed last year, no not Tuscaloosa.
Tuscaloosa is honestly the best spot to stay, unless you feel like driving to Birmingham the night before. Maybe watch the Barons play the Smokies at Regions field on Friday or something. Next best would be Meridian (if you're coming from Monroe). There's not much between Meridian and Tuscaloosa.
Maybe Columbus if you wanted to take the scenic route.

The motel in Meridian was abysmal last year. I’ve stayed in some shady places after playing competitive softball for 13-14 years in my youth. This definitely reminded me of my younger days.
I’ll probably repeat the trip from last year. The Braves have a game that Friday again this year.

We do have nice hotels and places to eat but no entertainment to speak of

If you have to stay in Meridian, try one of the hotels on the east side close to I-20. And I would suggest one of the better known brands. I spent the first 18 years of life there and my best advice is get up early and get out. It is an easy ride over to Tuscaloosa on I-20 as I'm sure you know.

No need to get bed bugs or get yourself shot.

Also, give DT Grinders a shot if you want a really nice dinner in Meridian.

Four-Star Friday: Big Moves in Georgia (247Sports | segments)
Note: The article features the bumps for Myles Murphy and Tate Ratledge, who are both Bama targets, but I didn't post those segments since they're both trending elsewhere. The article also covers a lot of other rankings moves. These weekly update articles don't always state the details of a player's ranking change. But in the ranking section of the 247 player profile page there's a Rank History link where you can see how far they were bumped or dropped, in both the 247 and Composite rankings.

Myles Murphy
In this week's Four-Star Friday edition, we focus primarily on fallout following The Opening's loaded Atlanta Regional. 247Sports was on hand to evaluate dozens of the South's top prospects and came away with a number of rankings moves as a result...

Shakeup within the Top 100
We felt like we took a bit of a flier on Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin Quandarrius Robinson as a top 100 prospect in the last Top247 update. The 6-foot-5, 217-pounder is more of a physical projection than some other Top 100 prospects and is still progressing as a player. After Sunday, it's apparent we undershot Robinson's ranking.
Working at linebacker (was a late arrival and missed the DL group), Robinson was tops in position drills, despite playing out of position. Rangy, athletic and fluid, Robinson was a natural playing in space. He also posted some elite testing results for an edge prospect, posting a 4.60 second 40-yard dash, 4.25 short shuttle and jumping 36.3 inches.
A former Auburn commit, Robinson's Crystal Ball is split down the middle between the Tigers and Alabama.
The move: Robinson moves into the top 50, now ranking as the No. 39 overall prospect and No. 3 outside linebacker.
Idk why the author said he was playing out of position. He wasn't. He's an OLB, not a DE.

Javier Morton -- While his ranking stays static, we see Javier Morton as more of a safety than corner at the next level. The Alabama commit out of Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson checked in at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds and is likely to fit more as a safety both from a size and skill standpoint. He also was among the longest defensive backs in attendance with a 6-foot-8 wingspan.
Downtrends
We still like where EJ Williams and Keandre Lambert fall within the wide receiver rankings, but after seeing them relative to a fairly loaded wideout group in Atlanta, we feel a slide back within their rating cohort is merited.
We place significant value on quickness and movement skills at defensive tackle. McKinnley Jackson and Jamil Burroughs both checked in at 330 pounds and posted less than ideal agility times. That, combined with showings in position drills and 1-on-1's has each sliding back.

This is Alabama's No. 1-ranked class in its entirety (BamaOnLine)

Alabama wrapped up National Signing Day last month atop the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings for 2019. The Crimson Tide finished with 317.50 points, good for one of Nick Saban's all-time best signing classes.
With the Early Signing Period in its second year, we've seen the Tide take a more expedited approach on the recruiting trail in some areas, and that's evident in Alabama's 2020 class at the moment. The Tide has already hit on several needs in the class, but with just over 10 months to go until pen to paper, expect Bama to continue to push for all areas of need in the cycle.
Nick Saban and staff have accepted 14 commitments thus far in the 2020 cycle. Alabama's class ranks No. 1 at the moment, with an average per/commit rating of 92.09. Here, BamaOnLine takes a look at each of the Tide's 2020 commitments... (more)

Ttown may be packed out...Birmingham is a good choice also, lots of other stuff to do IMO and not that far of a drive

“I’m definitely going to get out to Bama soon -- if not in April or May, in June for sure... Bama, they just win and produce guys. It’s hard to turn down. If you want to get to the NFL that’s the best chance you have to do it... I know Coach Saban. He’s straight down to business, he’ll take care of his players, and make sure you do what you need to do.”

Kimber enjoys first trip to Tuscaloosa (BamaOnLine-VIP)
4-star CB Jalen Kimber 6-1.5/180 TX hudl
This weekend Kimber and his dad visited USCe, Clemson, UGA, Ga Tech, AU and then Alabama. “It was a great experience. I got to go there for the first time, see everything...and I got to talk to Coach Saban and Coach Scott for a long time.” He likes Scott a lot and said his talk with Saban was one of the “most impactful” he’s ever had. Kimber also knows Scooby Carter and Jared Mayden pretty well and looks forward to talking to them more about Alabama. “After the visits I’ve got to chop it up with my dad and talk about what’s the best place for me.” Kimber plans to commit before football season and enroll early.

Alabama in top five for in-state ATH (BamaOnLine | embedded video)
quote:

It’s down to just five for Lanett (Ala.) product Kristian Story. The four-star athlete took to Twitter on Sunday to reveal a final list of Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
The one-time Vols commit is a highly sought after prospect following a season that saw him amass 2,434 yards and 40 touchdowns passing, 1,207 yards and 16 touchdowns rushing, and 33 tackles and nine interceptions in the secondary.
Since backing off his commitment to Tennessee prior to his junior season, the 247Sports Crystal Ball has been trending towards Alabama. UA was aided in pursuit of Story after hiring new assistant Charles Kelly from the Vols. The family goes way back with the new UA assistant, as Kelly coached Story’s father during his time at Jacksonville State and recruited the 2020 prospect during his stint in Knoxville.

Rated as an athlete, it’s likely the secondary where Story projects should he opt for the Tide. And it’s Alabama that has certainly caught his eye throughout the process.
“They win with Coach (Nick) Saban,” Story recently told BOL. “The opportunity that the program can give you even after your career. It has everything that you need in a school.”
The Crimson Tide has reaped the benefits of yet another strong cycle within the state in 2020. Seven of the Tide’s 14 pledges call Alabama home. Along with Story, the Tide remains after several additional in-state prospects like four-star linebacker Quandarrius Robinson and four-star receivers E.J. Williams and Auburn commit J.J. Evans, among others.
At 6-foot-1, 206 pounds, Story is rated the No. 8 athlete and the No. 149 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
