Top Performers: Adidas 7-on-7 National Championship (247Sports | segments)
quote:

Traeshon Holden

247Sports top-ranked dual-threat 2020 quarterback Bryce Young made some terrific red zone throws, routinely splitting defenders or going over second level defenders in tight spaces. The USC commit hit receivers in stride and like Huard, made the most of his collection of outstanding receivers. Young was the difference in his Premium Sports team's National Championship. Young will play in the All-American Bowl.

Alabama commit Traeshon Holden dominated his first-ever 7-on-7 tournament creating separation, showed a good feel for the game, savvy, smart, obviously great ball skills and was a force for Premium. Hard to a call a Crimson Tide commit under the radar but certainly no longer.

Five-star cornerback Kelee Ringo is a mismatch eraser. A tenacious competitor, Ringo showed he can blanket speed receivers, and use his 6-foot-2, 205-pound frame to get physical with massive tight ends. He played press, he played off, he can play the ball downfield and he obviously has range. Not much action came Ringo’s way and when it did he was typically up for the challenge. The Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro standout recently ran 10.43 in the 100m dash and that speed showed for two days in this tournament. Ringo has been selected to play in the All-American Bowl.

It’s obvious 247Sports No. 1 2020 athlete Arik Gilbert is special. In this tournament he was a stretch-the-field tight end, a force in the red zone and he also worked the middle of the field, while dwarfing just about everyone on the field standing in at 6-foot-5, 253-pounds. Several programs are still in the mix for Gilbert but two that seem to have the most buzz right now are Georgia and Tennessee. Gilbert has been selected to play in the All-American Bowl.

247Sports No. 1 2020 outside linebacker Sav'ell Smalls caught several touchdowns on day one of the tournament showing his versatility and ability to move. He liked to stretch the field as well as a pass catcher. Like Gilbert, plenty of schools are still under consideration including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Washington. Smalls has been selected to play in the All-American Bowl.

Top247 running back Sam Adams II was as productive a player at his position as there was in the tournament. Washington and Ohio State are two of his better relationships.

Plant City (Fla.) Armwood 2021 receiver Agiye Hall made his case as the top receiver in the state of Florida as he led Team Tampa into the Elite Eight. An insane athlete that at 6-3, 190 has everything coveted at the position.

Top247 defensive back Dwight McGlothern and Top247 safety Xavion Alford flashed a bunch in the secondary for Fast Houston.

Five-star RB sets Alabama visit (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Kendall Milton

It wasn't long ago that Alabama landed a five-star running back from California when Najee Harris opted for the Crimson Tide as a part of the 2017 recruiting class. The Tide is back in the Golden State in 2020 with its sights set on five-star ball carrier Kendall Milton.

Alabama offered the Clovis (Calif.) Buchanan product over a year ago, but has yet to get Milton on campus for a visit. That will change April 17 when the nation's No. 2 running back plans to make it out to Tuscaloosa. Originally, Milton told BOL earlier this year that he planned to be on campus April 16.

The five-star back had a connection to the program though former defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi who played at Cal with Milton's head coach. And even though Lupoi is no longer on the staff, there's still a connection with the aforementioned Harris who Milton has a relationship with due to the relative proximity of their hometowns.

Milton has already talked to Harris about life in T-Town. “A lot of people say that Bama is just football, football, football and you can’t have a social life,” Milton said of what Harris has told him about the Tide. “He’s been able to experience the social life of college. He said don’t believe all the rumors and go where you feel is best for you.”

Alabama already has one running back committed in 2020, that being Hueytown (Ala.) standout Roydell Williams. It's clear the staff's intention of adding another in the class with its continued pursuit of several ball carriers.

At 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, Milton is rated the No. 2 running back and the No. 15 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. USC is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite as it stands. Other visits on Milton's swing through the South later this month include LSU and Georgia.

Here's 247Sports' eval of the elite back out of the Golden State:

Bigger back who runs with a unique blend of power, speed and balance. Shows more shiftiness than you’d expect from a back his size. His balance is top-notch. Can take a hit and not lose his base and gains significant yards after contact. Can run through holes and sees them before they open. Can hit the hole and go. Good but not great receiver out of the backfield. Has a tendency to run upright on occasion when there is traffic. Projects as immediate Power 5 starter and projects as first-round NFL draft choice.

"He (Keilan Robinson) tweaked his knee towards the end of last season that held him out a few games -- possibly related to that. I'll get a more concrete answer for you though." -- Hank (BOL)

Why would he be having surgery this late? Wasn't he linjured a long time ago and his season was derailed?

It may be a scope to clean up scar tissue or something with his meniscus.

Maybe wanted to schedule it so he can rehab during the season and be ready to play next year.

If I remember correctly he got injured in that game on TV against Hoover,at least he limped off and never came back. He did not play again the rest of the year.
He could have had surgery then and possibly could play this season. Why delay several months and miss the next season?

Oh to be that young.

Clean and squatting... with no belt.

He will learn though. We all did at some point.

Yep. Seems to me Cochran and the nutitionist should provide our signees with S&C and diet programs, including injury prevention (belt, adequate spotting, etc). Maybe they do.
