I wonder if that will change if Taulia or other QBs hit the portal?

I think Tua declaring may have helped with that. It will force a battle between Young and Taulia for the backup this upcoming season. Young winning that would help assure Maye has a shot seeing the field earlier.

So a year from now, is everyone going to be cautious or just say this year was an anomaly and we getting everybody next year? Shannon Terry and the BOL crew are hoping for the later. Their business model depends on it

Was it??? Clemson is loaded on the D-line and yet they pull it 5 stars every year

That's a big lie! Clemson is not loaded on the DL. Did you see the DL they had this year?! They sure as hell weren't SEC caliber outside of one DE. Those kids Clemson has recruited on the DL in the 2020 class are going there because of guaranteed playing time. Bama can't offer guaranteed playing time on the DL. And, the last time we played Clemson their DL wasn't composed of guys who were all 5 stars coming out of high school.

But Saban has to be recruiting somebody else too just in case Maye decides at the last minute to go elsewhere.
QB recruiting normally requires a long lead time.

I think you have to but I think the concern is recruiting competition in the same class. We got burned one year already with that chasing both Winston and Gunner

Not sold on that. Jackson is talented enough to play right away. Deep DL or not.

It's not about what you believe. Most likely Jackson doesn't believe he can come to Bama and play right away.

Some folks need perspective. Needs were met. And Alabama inked the #2 class in the country. Today was just icing on the cake. And it just didn’t turn out to be that perfect fluffy icing. But good nevertheless.

Of course. But, we have recruited the DL just fine. I'm not sour about Jackson going to A&M. I like our guys.

Don't think that was the main reason. That would have been gravy. Roach was hired because he is very good coach and recruiter.

It’s a stupid good haul at DT. Jackson would have just made it ridiculous.

We "lost" Jackson but gained Tim Smith LOL. Like I said, I'm not sour at all.

I think it was more than coincidence that one of Jackson's favorite recruiters was hired, there probably was a fair expectation within the program that Roach could tip the scale to Bama.

Saban did the same thing with Rumph, Clowney said he was his favorite coach, and soon enough he's on staff trying to recruit him to Bama.

Not the only reason, but relationships, even when it's 1 guy, definitely facilitate positional hires...

Anyone watching the Van Pran commitment feed? It's hilarious. Some dude before Van Pran talked for like 5 minutes, not really making a lot of sense, before committing to a Mississippi directional school.

I used to tell my players that football isn’t for everyone when we would have 1 quit for some excuse or the other.
We should all know that BAMA football isn’t for everyone either. Some kids shy away from strong competition, others want early PT, others want to be close to home, others it’s about a close relationship with their potential position coach, and then you have the ones that we sign. They want to be pushed to their limits and strive for perfection.
