Steve Wiltfong and that Clemson mod CB'd Xzavier Henderson to Florida.

Per Wiltfong, at the All-American Game check-in and media day, Henderson said he committed last Friday, but didn't sign. Clemson mod Anna Hickey posted that he didn't commit to Clemson. Henderson is announcing at the game and from what he said about each school in Witfong's announcement preview article it sounds like he'll be a Gator like his older brother. He's visited UF many times to see his brother play and says it feels like home.

ETA 12/31: 3 more UF CBs, including a UF mod.

ETA 01/04: Announced UF commitment at All America game.

That video of Nigel had me so excited to have signed him. But alas it was not to be.
He is a great athlete but not a great football player. He has one more year like Davis. Hope he makes it.

Which is considered the better game, the Under Armour game or the All-American game? Or are they about equal? I would guess it could vary each year?

How are the players chosen for each game? How do they decide which one to play in?

It all depends to be honest. The problem is Rivals supports the All-American and ESPN the UA game. So players that commit to one or the other seem to get higher rankings with that service. Or at least it has been that way in the past. Hence why 247 has been the better rating service as they never have had a tie in to a game or their rankings get influenced by an all star game in a biased way.

LINK ]Top100 DL considering return visit to UA (BamaOnLine | segments)

SAN ANTONIO | 4-star DE LINK ]Alfred Collins is one of a few unsigned All-Americans in Texas this week. But that’s not for lack of interest. Alabama, Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M are all vying for the Bastrop (TX) Cedar Creek product, hoping to sign him in February.

The Crimson Tide hosted Collins on his official visit when UA played Southern Miss in September. “Meeting Coach Saban, of course, but like to see how it’s not just football there, it’s education,” Collins said of what the standout moments of his trip to UA were.

DL coach Brian Baker and TE/ST coach Jeff Banks have been staying in touch ever since. “I like how he’s just like a second dad,” Collins said of Baker. “He’s just down to earth, and a great coach.” Collins says he’s also staying in touch with UA signee Jahquez Robinson.

The Tide staff made their way out to Texas twice in December to visit Collins and his family, the second time was a stop in at the middle school where the four-star defensive lineman’s mother teaches. “They like it,” Collins said of his parents impressions of UA.

Collins says he’s looking at potentially getting back to UA in January on an unofficial visit. What’s the pitch from the Tide? “Just how I’d be developed as a player there and how I can get a great education and possibly go to the NFL.”

Asked about his top schools and where he feels he could develop best: “I feel like anywhere I’d go I’d be developed, but Bama, they have a reputation for doing that.” Why could the All-American DL see himself picking the Tide? “I feel like I could help the team be better too.”

Collins plans to announce his decision and sign in February. “I thought I was going to do it earlier, but I don’t want to rush it and make the wrong decision,” he said. “Anywhere I go is going to be good but I just wasn’t feeling it.”

4-star DE Alfred Collins 6-5/284 TX hudl

Note: Since Bastrop is a suburb of Austin and his mom played hoops at UT, he seems like a really tough pull. But, he has kept his recruitment open. I'd love for us to get this kid.

Perine for Florida reminds me a lot of Keilan Robinson. Both quick twitch and fast. He’s played real well tonighg

Mind of Mike: Thoughts from Day 2 of UA All-America Game

quote:

WASHINGTON STRUGGLES A BIT

Five-star Darnell Washington, a likely Georgia signee, is an impressive specimen of a human being at 6-foot-7 and 255 pounds. He’s a huge target, but he was a little slow footed on Monday and that has been the knock against him. I’m not saying he’s not a rare five-star prospect, because he is, but he can really struggle at times with routes and turning.

Alabama signee Chris Braswell has been excellent as an outside pass rusher so far. I’ve been a bit disappointed in Washington signee Sav’ell Smalls however as he hasn’t shown the athleticism I expected.

Good. We need someone to give UGA some actual competition in the East. Hopefully UF can clean up between now and February with Henderson, Gibbs, and Avantae Williams.

Anderson committed to Alabama last June and never looked back. While he never visited another school, nor hosted another coach on an in-home, the four-star DE said other schools did try to change his mind, namely Georgia Tech, LSU, Auburn and Florida State. He even had one program try and test the waters on Early Signing Day.

“As soon as I signed around three o'clock, UGA had just texted me asking me did I sign yet and I signed and I closed the deal,” Anderson said.

UGA texting him after he signed is a violation isn't it?

Regardless, Kirby is just fricking pathetic.

From the AA weigh-in "all-lobby team"

quote:

Another player who impressed when he walked in was the Alabama-bound Anderson. He checked in at 6-2.5 and weighed 230 pounds while boasting 34-inch arms and 9 5/8 hands.

For reference, Arik Gilbert measured 6'4.5" and had 32.5" arms

Anderson has also formed a strong bond with Nick Saban.

"Our relationship is great,” he said. “You know, every time I talked to him I learned something new about life. I think that's really what just stuck out to me — you learn something new about life, and that helps you be become a better man in the future, be a better husband, be a better friend, a brother, everything. So I think that's just what stuck out to me with Coach Saban."

Anderson shared one of his favorite Nick Saban stories.

“When I first met Coach Saban, this was before me and him even talked, he was giving a meeting on January 26. And he was saying if somebody talks about you do you want to be the ‘and’ or the ‘but’? And ever since then that just stuck with me: do I want to be the ‘and’ or the ‘but’?”

I get the feeling this class is going to be special. Can't wait for spring ball to see many of them on the field.

Dude sounds like a bit of a head case. Kirby gonna have his hands full dealing with the bunch he just signed. Talent + bad character = sick program.
