Would anyone be upset if we went after Demon Clowney now that LSU fricked up his recruitment?

He's 6'4" 225 pounds and is a missile off the edge. Would make missing on Webb sting a little less.

ETA: As many guys as we lose on defense to injury, I'd like to add another pass rusher to this class for insurance reasons.

I'm all in on adding as many defensive guys who have raw skill and work like dogs. We can never have enough.

And yes I am scarred as hell after last season just like you

Seconded. Hell, I could see him growing into a guard. He's country strong as they say. And he plays with a lot of anger and hostility. Tim Smith is in that same vein. Just a big, agile dude who hates the ball carrier.

Will Anderson.

I don't know what I'm missing on his film but it screams top 10 player in the country in nearly every cycle. He's a 6"3" 225 pound edge rusher with an unmatched first step. I don't know if the "experts" think he's maxed out physically or what, but I didn't see a better pass rusher on film this cycle and that's including Braswell

Close runner up is Brian Branch. I think he's starting in the secondary at some point next year

It feels like we signed a bunch of dudes who everyone in the recruiting industry seems to agree are elite players.........but they are ranked in the #60-150 range. Smith, Branch, Anderson are the ones that initially come to mind

If you didn't know better yesterday you would have thought Smith was a Top 10 player the way everyone talked about him and how big it was to keep him.

When you combine that with the fact that we also signed a ton of actually super high rated guys (who most seem to think are legitimately ranked high).......this seems like a pretty special group.

Not at all. He's a Tim Williams clone and after the last two years we could use one of those to counteract 3rd and Golding.

Not to mention it wouldn't hurt to swoop back in to St. Frances specifically and the DMV generally and once again pad the good love we seem to have there - in direct comparison to LSU's self-inflicted issues.

I thought I read yesterday from an LSU fan that he had a down year and character issues.

Of course a LSU fan would say that.

They are desperately trying to justify Orgeron's processing frick ups.

Smith is as good of a DT as there is in the country. The services missed pretty badly on him. He's a 5*.

Maybe he did but would you be surprised if that’s the excuse they are making to defend their coaching staff.

NSD: Top uncommitted prospects heading into February

quote:

Darnell Washington is another West Coast prospect that made a sudden late call not to commit or sign early. Instead, the five-star tight end will announce either Alabama, Georgia or Tennessee at the Under Armour All-America Game in January. Miami is also in it, but behind that trio of SEC schools at the moment.

quote:

Demon Clowney was long rumored to be an odd man out in LSU's 2020 recruiting class, which had seen some cuts in recent weeks. The Rivals100 defensive end did not sign with the Tigers on Wednesday and instead pressed reset on his recruitment. Clowney will now be a sought-after target for the Late Signing Period with Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, Miami, Ole Miss and Pitt all battling for his services.

quote:

McKinnley Jackson was never going to make a decision during the Early Signing Period. A playoff run kept the Rivals100 defensive tackle from taking all of his official visits. Alabama and Auburn each had the Mississippi four-star on campus for officials already, and Texas A&M, LSU and Georgia are in line for visits next month. Georgia has been a new team garnering some steam for the one-time LSU pledge thanks to addition of former Rebels head coach Matt Luke.

quote:

Xzavier Henderson has trimmed his list of schools down to three: Georgia, Alabama and Clemson, with a decision expected at the Under Armour All-America Game next month. The Tigers have grabbed hold of some momentum in the month of December, but now the task will be on holding onto it as his announcement inches closer and closer.

Big bruising TE with ball skills when healthy.

Tell em to GTFO with that mess. So that's the reason you dropped the kid the day before he was suppose to sign. LSU wanted Burch, so let a kid go who was comiitted since March

O can keep on burning bridges, especially with pipeline schools like SF

I like Clowney but we signed 4 elite players at his position. 4 of the top 78 players in the country per 247. It's the best group of edge players in a single class that I can recall, ever, by anyone.

I'd like to see us add another interior lineman (Jackson) and obviously Washington. Snagging another receiver would be nice. Henderson is the only guy left we were really in on and we might as well write him off. When Clemson really hones in on a guy they almost always get him and they've been in on him for a while. Gary Bryant, Malachi Wideman, Zavier Betts, Elijah Badger. We need to swing our dick a little here because all of those guys are either uncommitted or committed to second rate programs.

Not to get too far off in the woods, I'd like to add Clowney but only if we miss on the above. I'd prefer him in the class than I would a backup option at TE or DT

Big, physical, the for both catching blocking - I meant 3rd down and red zone are what piss us off so much anyway.

Also would fit well with a revert back to more of a pounding ground game imo

Do any if the WRs, RBs or DBs have elite speed? Similar to Waddle or Ruggs?

This Drew Sanders kid is intriguing. I am assuming we have him projected to play OLB? He plays way too high but freak of an athlete.

No. Arian Smith was the only good football player with that kind of speed in this cycle
