I'm mostly referring to the whole crash and burn down the stretch aspect of it. Where we end up missing on nearly all of our top uncommitted targets, losing a couple of commits we didn't want to lose, and signing guys like Musika who are literally just warm bodies to fill the class.

I've sort of had this feeling for the last month. None of the big names on the board were ever reported to be "leaning" towards bama at any point in the process. We're basically hoping to pull a rabbit out of the hat on several guys. At this point, just hold on to the guys we have and it will still be a good class. How we've shite the bed on WR/TE recruiting this cycle is absolutely baffling to me and if we don't sign a great class at those spots next year then I think we'll pay for it. Look at Georgia this year for proof you need those horses on the perimeter.

Obviously it would have helped tremendously if BY was on board earlier in the process, but to be "in the mix" for a lot of WR prospects down the stretch knowing they'll play with BY if they come here, there hasn't been any good news on that front. Odd cycle. At least we've got some great linebackers coming in

Pretty sure coaches can still talk to recruits during the dead period. It's limited to phone, social media, etc. (not in-person), but they can still communicate.

Dead period, so the only people talking are the kids with one another.

No in-person contact is allowed during a Dead Period, but coaches may and do talk to recruits (a lot) by phone.

I like positive/optimistic TS1 better.

Me too. A negative, pessimistic glass-half-empty outlook versus a postive, optimistic glass-half-full outlook is a choice. The latter is how I roll. I also try to not let myself fret about things I can't control or influence.

Bama ain't for everybody. I like the way Saban recruits. If a kid chooses what he's selling, then I'm a fan of his. If he doesn't, then that's best for both sides, imo. I wish him well and move on.

He says he is, but one of the USCw mods said he was told to not be shocked if Young signs with Southern Cal on Wednesday.

Tim Watts: You are talking about this I believe?

“At the Ground Zero Get Your Stars Up “Camp. Lots of interesting talk around here about Flowe to SC. Might say I have two sources now calling it for SC. Also a prediction that Bryce Young ends up back with SC. Don’t shoot the messenger or buy him dinner.“

Someone at a camp predicted Bryce would end up at USC. I haven’t seen Gerard predict Bryce to USC.

The "prediction" could've been from another recruit. Bryce Young and his father have both said his recruitment is shut down and that they don't talk to any coaches from other schools wanting to recruit him. Clickbait, imo. That said, the stuff about Flowe has merit. The buzz is saying Flowe is likely to stay out west, USC vs Oregon. Clemson has moved on and taken another ILB.

With the start of the early signing period less than 48 hours away, BOL publisher Tim Watts and senior analyst Travis Reier took to the Built By BamaOnLine Podcast Monday morning to riff on recruiting. Among the items they went in-depth on:

* How the early period has only added to the anticipation of the February date.

* Importance of recent commitments from CB Ronald Williams and OL Javion Cohen.

* Tim's annual pep talk.

* Versatility once again the centerpiece of a Crimson Tide recruiting class.

Maybe so. Tino's tweet after Cohen committed didn't say whether or not it was. It did say more great news to come though. So there's that.

Is Jarrett not signing early? If he isn't, that would be huge!

Quit trying to be the victim. Your predictions get bashed because you're always a Debbie downer.

If you want to be taken seriously, stop being negative about every situation.

Pretty sure most people downvote you before they even read your posts. If they even read it

Yea they do, but they also skip the ones where I get ecstatic about something good. In all fairness with everything bad that happened this year, it's hard to get excited. Injuries wrecked us

Nobody is trying to be a victim. I posted predictions... that's not being negative or a Debbie downer there killer. Calm down Phyllis
