I see you're setting the stage for a future meltdown when we don't flip a kid committed to the current #1 team in the nation.

Young, Uiagalelei showdown lives up to hype
quote:
BRYCE YOUNG IS THE REAL DEAL
After seeing Bryce Young rush for four touchdowns in Mater Dei’s win over powerhouse Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances earlier this season, I thought I saw the best performance I was going to see from a player this season. And then Young topped it in the win over Bosco.
The four-star Alabama commit reignited five-star discussion talk by throwing for 256 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for two more scores. The top-ranked dual-threat quarterback almost never makes a bad decision, he’s incredibly cool keeping his eyes downfield and looking for open receivers and he’s a tremendous leader. There will be a serious discussion as to not only whether Young is a five-star but if he’s the top overall quarterback in the class.

Forget QB, I haven't seen a better player in this class than Young. The kid can absolutely spin it

Not at all. I'm not expecting a flip... just hopeful and I think there's a chance. A top RB is possible as well. I wonder what Evans is thinking now, it seems to change weekly

Keep in mind Rakim Jarrett saw Young (QB) up close when they played each other.
But how much of this 50/50 is because of the young commitment.Or did we always have a good shot with him. It's also great that Young is balling out in every huge game so far this year and should help.
Do we know if Young, Jarrett are both early entries in there perceptive classes.?

Boutte is the one who's saying he's 50/50 with Bama/LSU. Per Tim (today), that appears to be how he truly feels. He really likes both a lot. But some of Boutte's family want him closer to home, which is pretty likely to enable LSU to hang on to him. Boutte says he doesn't plan to sign or enroll early. Jarrett's Bama OV also went very well -- Bama has gained a lot of ground and appears to have a better chance of flipping him. Besides LSU, Jarrett is only considering Bama. Jarrett isn't expected to enroll early and hasn't decided on signing early.

I haven't seen anything saying Jarrett or Boutte plan to return for the LSU game. But Hank will likely check with all commits and top targets next week and make a list of expected visitors.

If this is true, we might have to move on. It'll be like Christian Williams last year for you guys.
Of course, it's just talk at this point. Sometimes it's not too hard for these coaches to persuade kids differently. Emery, last year, for example, is a guy who was always planning to sign on NSD. The closer we got to the early signing period, the softer that stance became and he eventually signed on ESD.

We had a real good shot with Jarrett,I was surprised when he committed so quickly to LSU. We also had great shot with Fleming and some other East coast&DC kids. Lost momentum with our coaching changes.

I agree. Kids wanting a spot in LSU, Bama, CU and tOSU classes who don't sign early may end up losing their spot(s). Fwiw, I think Bama has a pretty decent shot of flipping Jarrett and signing him in Dec. I think Boutte is more likely to stick with LSU and sign early.

Alabama has no "must gets". If they had one it would be Young by far, but even he is not one.

I agree, but Young's abilities are very similar to Tua's -- legit potential for our passing offense to remain just as explosive and productive as it is now. To make that happen, the next closest to a "must get" in this class is an elite WR.

I agree. Last must get was probably Julio IMO

LINK ]Bryce Young made another monumental statement on Friday night. The five-star quarterback for Santa Ana (Cal.) Mater Dei threw for three TDs and rushed for two more in an impressive victory over St. John Bosco in a battle of the No. 1 and No. 2-ranked teams in the country.
The Alabama commit out-dueled Clemson-bound DJ Uiagalelei to take control for the Trinity League crown. Young completed 19 of 33 attempts for 256 yards and also tacked on 73 yards on the ground. The 5-foot-11, 183-pound prospect has guided powerhouse Mater Dei to a 9-0 mark this year.
Young, the nation's No. 1 dual-threat quarterback and No. 21 overall prospect in the 2020 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, flipped his commitment to the Crimson Tide from hometown USC last month following an official visit to Tuscaloosa.
Check out the video above to see Young in action versus rival Bosco in the 38-24 victory.

Since he visited with Boutte it could be real. Strange smoke with LSU and Demas. Could be if you’re going to look around so will we.

5-star DE Jordan Burch 6-5/250 SC hudl

The nation's No. 1 strong-side defensive end, LINK ]Jordan Burch, announced his top five on Monday evening (via Twitter), a list that includes: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, and South Carolina in no particular order.
The Columbia (S.C.) Hammond product visited Tuscaloosa twice thus far in 2019, including a trip for the Champions Cookout in June, and is one of the top remaining targets along the defensive line for Alabama in 2020. Burch is expected to officially visit Tuscaloosa for the LSU game.
Defensive line coach Brian Baker watched Burch play earlier this season when UA was in the Palmetto State for its game against the Gamecocks.
The Tide currently has four defensive linemen committed in the 2020 class -- Timothy Smith, Jamil Burroughs, Jah-Marien Latham, and Jayson Jones.
At 6-foot-5, 250 pounds, Burch is rated the No. 1 strong-side defensive end and the No. 2 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Here's is 247Sports evaluation of the five-star talent, via national analyst Charles Power:
"Possesses a square-shouldered, well-proportioned athletic build. Has a developed lower body and strong base. Should comfortably hit 275 pounds while in college. Is a multi-sport athlete as a longtime AAU basketball player who is talented enough to play hoops at the college level. Dominates on both sides of the ball for a high school football program that wins a state championship every season in South Carolina’s private school league. A flexible, fluid athlete, Burch has the framework to develop into a top pass rusher at the next level. He plays with outstanding bend and leverage, with the ability to dip and run the arc off the edge. Has a high level first step and play speed in pursuit. Doubles as a strong, physical run defender and looks to play with a high effort level. Flashes his considerable athleticism as a running back, moving with high level explosiveness and fluidity for a prospect of his size. Though he receives outstanding coaching at Hammond, he rarely sees college-level talent on Friday nights. He looks to be the next elite pass rusher from South Carolina, a state that annually produces top-ranked defensive linemen. Has the potential to develop into an all-league, All-American type player with the upside of a top-10 pick."
