Serious question to the recruiting experts here: Is Gilbert's commitment solid? Or do we still have a chance to flip him?

Gilbert's mom wants him close to home and if she thought he was going to commit to Bama, she might already be trying to change his mind.

That’s just the going rate I’m hearing players are asking for. I’m sure some get more.. but that seems to be the starting point with kids that want to play that game. It’s all done by the parents though.. Auburn taught us all how to do that nice trick with Cam. 120k tax free is a lot of money to these family’s. Most have a house hold income of under 20k. I do admit 120k sounds low but when your paying 10 parents that gets expensive, not to mention other perks such as a car, living room furniture, or even getting the parent a new job. Boosters run deep in all towns.. even we were notorious for the new job approach.

Is what it is.. you win some you lose some. I think LSU isn’t done either. I fully expect them to have a silent commit at QB.. I expect them to pull Evans and one more shock. Gilbert said he was a silent since oct 5th.. so he really did troll our staff. But LSU sold him on something.. some one is throwing the ball to him. Also I don’t expect any of the WR’s to flip.. I really don’t like they are all coming for the Bama/LSU game. All they will do is recruit for LSU.. if I was the staff I would move on.

the way he laughed when he put that hat on, was very telling. best getback, would be to make sure he goes 0 for bama for his career.

I hate to even say this, but is there a chance they could flip Young?

I don’t see that at all.. Young seems all Bama. I’m sure we are making sure he doesn’t waiver at all. Don’t get me wrong.. it crossed my mind for a brief second too. But I think it’s someone else. Maybe the UT QB that’s Gilberts QB? Either way, we will still finish strong and beat the coonasses come Nov.

Take Two: Where does Zach Evans stand after Bama trip?

I'm not going to copy and paste the whole article, but I did find this interesting:

quote:

TAKE TWO: Mike Farrell, Rivals.com

“Alabama has a shot. There has been talk about the teammate connection in this recruiting class and how Alabama was once considered the team to beat. Then it became Georgia, then it became Texas A&M, then it became LSU.

“I don’t think Alabama is putting pressure on him and it would take him no matter what stage of the process but it’s just so hard to gauge a leader. He’s looking at schools where he could be very successful - is he looking to stay close to home and stay at Texas A&M or LSU? Is he looking to potentially win national championships and go to Alabama? Or running back tradition and go to Georgia? I still think Texas A&M.”

We have two Heisman winning RBs in the last decade that both won national titles. Georgia hasn't won either since 1980.

LINK ]Tide pledge Will Anderson reflects on Bama OV (BamaOnLine-VIP | segments)
quote:

UA commits (L-R): Brian Branch, Jamil Burroughs, Javon Baker, Will Anderson

LINK ]Will Anderson was one of four Alabama commits to receive their All-American Bowl jersey on Wednesday night at the College Football Hall of Fame. The four-star weak-side defensive end is one of seven Crimson Tide pledges slated to play in the annual all-star game in San Antonio this January...

“We bring a lot to the table,” Anderson said of his fellow Peach State Tide pledges. “We’re going to compete together, we’re going to love each other, and we’re going to bring a lot of energy and positive thoughts. Just get ready to watch it on TV.”

Anyone else find it odd that these two are taking an OV to Alabama for a game against fricking Arkansas when the team they are committed to is hosting a Top 10 matchup?

I definitely do. No idea what it could mean, but it definitely caused me to raise an eyebrow
