Andrew Bone has been around from the woollyal days. 15 years later, he’s still the same joke with no sources

Meh. I'm not overly concerned about it. From what I've read, around the message boards and Twitter (nothing concrete), he doesn't want much to do with the blocking part of playing TE in college. After seeing our o-line do a good job blocking recently on run plays only to watch one of our TEs get blown into the backfield and blow up a potentially good run, I'd happily take a lower rated guy who can tie up a DE long enough for Sanders or whoever the RB is next year to get to the edge.

Sorry. Gilbert was just a five star that helped boost ratings. I want a TE that can block and help with the power run game.

Is it safe to return to the thread?

Yep. Pansy Fricker has been eliminated.

He's whining on the recruiting board. It's great

Well don’t be silly. He’s a 6’5” 250 pound receiving threat. We could’ve used him. At the end of the day it’s a tight end and LSU doesn’t have anyone to get him the football. We’ve got the most important player in the class on board in Bryce Young. It would be nice to add one or two more blue chip pass catchers, but Young elevates the ones already on board. I’d tell Gilbert the same thing Nick told Devin White. Best of luck kid, but we’re just going to beat your arse every year

"As we've maintained Gilbert did not tell anyone leading up to this decision where he was going. The UA staff was at practice when he announced and as far as all of our sources could tell, no school was told right before his announcement. This is a pretty big surprise for all of those involved. And I believe Gilbert was trying to shock everyone." -- Tim Watts

It appears in the video clip that maybe his mom knew which hat he was going to pick up, but she says she didn't know.

I've mentioned this before. But keep an eye on both Jeremiah Pegues and Dee Beckwith. Pegues is a very good TE prospect.
Beckwith has a chance to be special after a year or two.
We turned the heat up on Pegues about a month ago. Haven't on Beckwith yet, but I expect us to regardless of who else we sign. Ignore the ratings on Beckwith. Has the ability to be very special as a big WR/H-Back after a little time to learn the position better.

The "inside info" that appears on recruiting msg boards is for the most part phantom. Not saying no one knows anything but what passes for inside info is usually at best a slightly educated guess based on "indications" that the "source" receives. It's usually not hard to get the real candidates down to a handful, then ferret out a guess. But what really goes on between kids and coaches - only they really know. One thing I do actually know, many coaches use "recruiting analysts" to spread propaganda. From evaluations to destinations. I know this for a fact. Of course, this is surprising to almost no one.
One more thing - coaches fool players far more often than vice versa. Some coaches hate recruiting for this reason (see Jim McElwain). CNS is not one of those coaches :-) Supposedly, he is the master of actually telling the truth, but in such a way that the player can interpret it to believe whatever he wants - and it may turn out that way. Coaches are highly skilled and experienced professionals in reading kids and knowing how to present things to them. The kids are much more likely the innocent lambs. Remember that when you think a kid tricked a coaching staff - though anyone can lie.

120k.. keep that number in mind..
Recruiting has become the Wild West since the basketball scandals couldn’t get nailed down. It’s only going to get much wilder. Ole miss is already back at it, no one is scared of the NCAA now. They can all point the finger back and say they should pay players and it’s almost acceptable. It’s always been done on a small scale.. I have seen it first hand. But nothing like it is now.. nothing.

You would know better than the rest of us. I trust what you tell us, since you're so close to the situation

120k seems kinda low. Bama was paying 250k 20 years ago.

The melt is over. It's a bummer but I do wonder what happened and is his recruitment over or could it be like last years dax hill fiasco?
