Alabama wasn’t. But Auburn was coming off a 13-0 season.
But AU was still AU. They have yet to sustain a run. They have a great year and then take a few steps backwards.
Someone else mentioned Meyer dream job and I have only seen him reference Notre Dame as his dream job.

For a proven nc-winning coach, making $9/yr. at Bama, Clemson, UGA---makes sense. At USC, it needs to be $12 million to compensate for a decline in standard of living. This isn't the 1980s, plus USC admin. are notoriously cheapskates. They lucked out on Pete Carroll, but all of their hires have been USC people, some making lateral moves at best.
If you’ve read anything coming from the SC administration and alumni, their athletic department is suffering financially from poor performance across the board in revenue generating sports. They aren’t broke but money is tight.

The so-called NFL qb creating guru seldom exists. The closes I can think of might be Craig Bohl of all people.
David Cutcliffe.
Two #1 overall draft picks (Peyton and Eli Manning) and one at #6 overall (Daniel Jones).

I feel like Archie Manning's genetics are more the QB guru than Cutcliffe . I'll give Cutcliffe Daniel cause Archie doesn't seem like the type who would be stepping out on his wife with Mrs. Jones.

Y'all remember how "upset" we were when Carson Beck de-committed?
fricking ouch.
Are we really going to "fail" up again after losing a QB commit to Georgia? First Tua, now Bryce Young.
ETA: Look at the numbers for the LSU commit.

Carson Beck may be lucky to play at USF if he keeps this up. Kirby will drop him like it’s hot.
Young, come on down to Ttown!!

I will be honest, I think Enos is a hell of a qb coach when he gets them, but I really think we dodged a bullet in terms of evaluation and actual play calling.

Does anyone know why CJ Stroud can't seem to get any traction from programs who need a QB? From what I read he had a great Elite 11 and is having a strong season. I'm no expert but his highlights and statistics look good. He looks no worse than the QBs at the second tier power 5 schools. His recruitment puzzles me.

This is from a USA today article about his E11 win.
So basically didn't start until last year, got hurt. Easy recipe to get overlooked early and now the blue bloods are waiting to see if it holds up before they really dig in. My theory is that he secretly is holding out for a top p5 offer and is basically showing no interest in the second tier p5's now with that E11 mvp.

Makes sense for a player who threw for more than 2,500 yards, 20 touchdowns and completed 65 percent of his passes for Rancho Cucamonga (California) High School despite missing three games with an injury. The numbers are even more impressive when you consider that it was Stroud’s first season as a starter.
“Most of the top quarterbacks have been starting since like eighth or ninth grade,” Stroud said. “I’m still growing and getting better, and I feel like this is gonna be a big year. Obviously, after winning the Elite 11 MVP there’s a lot more attention on me now, but I feel like I’m ready to handle it. I’ve been proving myself my whole career; that just makes me hungrier.”

Yeah, I could see the president not wanting anything to do with Meyer. The school is in serious need of cleansing, so staying away from Meyer makes sense. One name to keep an eye on is Chris Petersen.

Rivals Rankings: Analysts look outside their regions
quote:
In today’s offering of the Rankings Radar, we ask all the analysts to name one player who is outside their region who they would have higher in the rankings:
quote:
ADAM GORNEY: Drew Sanders
Drew Sanders has always been a kid that has intrigued me. He originally committed to Oklahoma but Alabama never gave up recruiting him and the Crimson Tide finally flipped him. You watch him on tape and he has tremendous size and great athleticism, and at 6-foot-5 and 227 pounds, he has the range and physical ability to be really special.
Sanders has shown his ability to be an awesome tight end but he’s probably going to play outside linebacker and come off the edge in Tuscaloosa. Coach Nick Saban and his staff have developed those guys to play in the NFL for years and Sanders could be next in line.

Bryce Young continues to make a compelling case for a move up the ranks and he should be higher than where he is now.
