"This is what we are going to do Darnell. 50% of the time we are going to have you all over the field-at the slot, the boundery, the backfield all sorts of stuff. Then 50% of the time we are going to have you on the offensive line or just off the line blocking people. I call it the Jumbo WR. Hell we might even put in a blocking tight end while you are in. People are going to faint when they see this innovation. The NFL won't know how to slot you for pay and they will just go screw it, give him QB money. Wait, what is that you are eating? Asparagus? Get off my campus, space food is not welcome in Knoxville as long as I'm coach."
Honestly I love the stuff they come up with to sway these kids
. Maybe it will work.

I mean, just think about how many colossal dumbasses are great recruiters. It works because a lot of these kids operate on that level, don't know any better, or aren't really thinking of the things they'd need to think about to make, like, the optimal college decision (and probably don't care about that anyway - not that they necessarily should).

What’s the thought on the Burroughs kid committed to UGA?
Posted on 7/25/19 at 9:00 pm to tider04
Idk whats up with Jamil Burroughs. At a glance, he seems pretty comparable to Jah-Marien Latham. Bama always recruits more players than they have room for in a position group. In that podcast I posted above, Hank said Burroughs hasn't visted UGA since spring and this weekend will be his 2nd visit to Bama this summer. A BOL poster said UGA has a cookout this weekend too. Maybe UGA has cooled on him.
ETA: Even if Roy is a "He gone," Bama is very much in the mix for Burch, Guillory, Jackson and Thomas. In the composite rankings those guys are all ranked a lot higher than Burroughs and Latham. I could be wrong, but I doubt Burroughs offer is committable at this juncture.

Seems like our plan may be to load up and then chop the dead wood before signing day? We are on pace to land about 35 ;-)

I just read one of their insiders say he has visited Bama four times since the last time he visited UGA. Seems they are almost conceding him to Bama at this point.

I don't think Bama would take new commits at this point who'd likely be recruited over. Attrition is more common with kids who committed early. If/when Bama lands better players in their position group a few will look for another program that gives them a better chance of playing early and starting.
There's plenty of insider chatter that Bama will have a few decommits. Hank and Tim have both said they expect Javier Morton to decommit at any time. I could be wrong, but a few other guys who seem like they may decide to decommit at some point are Clark, Jones and Latham. I don't think Jahquez Robinson will decommit unless Bama lands 1 or 2 CBs like Joseph, Pouncey or Ricks that he may worry about competing against.

About Zachary Evans: If Kendall Milton commits to Georgia (as just about everyone think will happen sooner or later) that takes UGA firmly out of the recruiting discussion for Evans. There is no way 2 five star running backs from the same class will join the same school.
In that scenario UGA would re-enter the picture for Evans only if and when something happens like last year with John Emery Jr. Emery was a 5-star RB who was committed to UGA, but then changed to LSU very late in the process. After that Georgia went really hard after Trey Sanders (and caused some anxiety for some of us here).
When Milton opts for UGA, then the battle for Evans will be between Alabama and Texas A&M. You would hope that with our staple of elite backs that in recent years either went high in the NFL draft or became successful NFL backs despite not being picked so high, it would be an easy choice for Evans to join the Tide.
Hopefully Huff can make Evans feel at home at Bama. Would be nice if Huff can score his first big fish RB for us.

Zachary Evans is visiting LSU with teammates Shadrach Banks and Dematrius Davis. Then they're heading to ATM on Fri and UGA on Sat. Banks and Davis are visiting Bama on Monday, so maybe Evans is too.

I believe UGA pulled two 5 stars with Michel and Chubb and I think FSU might have pulled two 5 star backs under Jimbo in the same year but your point still stands. It is rare and I don't think any of the 5 star backs in this class want to partner up.
