I wonder which of these guys actually has the go ahead to commit and how one committing may impact another. I mean they all can't have the go ahead can they? Four or five of them seem likely to commit.

Really want this kid in Bama's class. Big, athletic, and plays with some attitude - exactly what you want in a DL. I think he is a legit top-3 defensive lineman in this class, up there with Bresee and Burch.

Three are DBs, if you count Story as one.

TE Darnell Washington has five schools in mind for visits (247Sports | video)

Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Pines tight end Darnell Washington said he has a good idea where five of his official visits will be.
Washington is currently rated the No. 11 overall prospect nationally in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 1 athlete as well. He can play on either side of the ball in college but will work out with the tight ends this week at The Opening Finals.
Washington took a ton of unofficial visits over the last year and said he now has a good idea where his five official trips will be.
“If I had to choose today, my five visits would be to Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Miami and LSU,” Washington said. “Things could change but that’s where it’s at today. I haven’t set up any dates yet but I plan to take all of those visits during the season so I can visit on a game weekend.”

Washington talked about what stands out about each of the five schools:
Georgia -- “Dell McGee is a real good guy and someone I have a good relationship with. I’ve already been to Georgia 2-3 times and I really like the campus and the school itself. Kirby Smart is a great coach and one of the head coaches that’s personally involved in my recruitment and I like how they plan to use the tight end in the offense as well.”
Tennessee -- “Out of all the coaches recruiting me, I have the best relationship with coach (Brian) Niedermeyer. He’s a great guy and someone I know I would enjoy playing for as a position coach. I’ve been there 2-3 times as well and just like with Georgia, I love the campus and the passion for football everyone has out there.”
Alabama -- “I like Jeff Banks (TE) coach. We’re pretty close and he’s a funny dude, we get along well. Nick Saban is great as well and of all the schools I visited, Bama probably has the best weight room and strength program that I’ve seen. I like the campus a lot too and they put tight ends in to the League (NFL) and that’s definitely my goal.”

Miami -- “That’s TEU (tight end university). Everyone talks about using the tight end but with Miami, you can see it and they’re tradition at the position is really strong. I like Manny Diaz a lot, he’s involved recruiting me and I think I would fit in really well there. Brevin (Jordan) is already there and I always have people hitting me up saying they need another tight end from the 702 (area code). I was there for the Paradise Camp and loved it there.”
LSU -- “I had great visits to LSU and love the staff there. Coach O (Orgeron) is great and I really like the direction the program is going. They told me they already use the tight end in their offense but they plan to emphasize it even more this season so I’m excited to watch them on the field and see exactly how I would fit in there.”
Washington said other schools still involved with him include Penn State, Florida, Florida State, Oregon and Auburn.
“The biggest factors for me in my decision will be the scheme fit, how well I fit in the offense, the coaching staff and how comfortable I am on campus and how well I fit in. I like the SEC a lot, it’s the best conference in the country and if you can succeed there, you can succeed anywhere so that’s why so many of my schools are from the SEC.
“I really don’t have a timeframe for making a decision, it will be after my trips in the fall. Then I’ll have time to evaluate everyone and can make a decision whenever it feels right.”

All three DBs seem likely to want to commit plus Nadab Joseph. Seems like there will be some reshuffling there with 4 already commited (although I hope Story goes the Ardarius Stewart route).

I don't think Javier Morton will remain in the class. And Story could end up on offense at WR, RB or QB. Maybe someone needs to remind Saban that we can't afford to spend half of the signing spots on DBs. He's like a kid picking out candy, "I want this, and that, oh and these too..."

Is Roy scheduled to attend the cookout?
Posted on 7/1/19 at 6:29 pm to RammerJammer91
I'm trying to find out about that.
Eta: Hank said he's not expected at this point, but that could change.
From posting visitors lists, I've noticed that it's fairly common for a list to change frequently and for some recruits to show up at Bama who didn't tell BOL that they planned to visit.

Boys, I’m in Kansas City for a few days. Where do I need to drop the money off for 2020 and 2021 prospects in Missouri?

Nugget from a Geaux247 article (VIP):
"Elias Ricks and his family just moved to Baton Rouge, with his little brother set to be at Dunham this fall. They have family here and are more than happy with his decision, as is Elias. His message has been clear. Unless the staff all got let go, he’s locked in with LSU and enrolls in January."
When Tua's family moved to AL, a lot of the LSU fan base called it cheating.

This is true. If we flipped Ricks the LSU folks would start talking about going to the Big 12 again.

The best of the defensive backs after Day 1 of The Opening
quote:
FRISCO, Texas — Sunday afternoon at The Opening Finals saw players break up into a camp-like setting to work on position-specific drills and 1-on-1s. Here are our observations from watching the defensive backs work out at the Star.
Alpha Dog
Elias Ricks - The defensive back group didn’t have a ton of success on the day, going up against a very deep and talented roster of receivers. With that said, Elias Ricks had the most impressive wins during 1-on-1 drills. Ricks split reps against touted wideouts Gee Scott and Julian Fleming, who were two of the very best on the day. Ricks is a taller corner with exceptional ball skills and was able to rise and make plays on the ball in-air against the physical Scott and Fleming. There are a few corners who may be more fluid in their movements, but Ricks had the flashiest plays on the day.
Next Three
Jalen Kimber - The Georgia commit is one of the more athletic cornerbacks in the country and that transferred over to his coverage reps. Kimber is fluid with good length. We really liked what we saw from him from a movement and twitch perspective. Kimber was also a finalist in the fastest man competition held at the end of the end of the event.
Xavion Alford - Alford may have had the most pass breakups we saw during the 1-on-1 session. The fact the Houston area prospect is also considered by many to be a safety, makes his showing particularly more impressive, as the setup tends to favor cornerbacks. The four-star prospect did a nice job of locating and turning to make a play on the ball when tested vertically. Alford’s highlight play came with a PBU on a deep seam defending Mookie Cooper, one of the few wins we saw a DB have over Cooper. Alford’s Crystal Ball is split between picks for Alabama, LSU and foggy predictions.
Isaiah Johnson - As one of the few 2021 prospects on hand, we thought the West Virginia native acquitted himself well against a very strong group of older receivers. Johnson has high end length and was fairly fluid in flipping his hips and running up the boundary. He didn’t win all of his reps but didn’t find himself out of phase as often as many other DB’s on hand. Johnson’s Crystal Ball is split between Tennessee and the in-state Mountaineers.
Emptying the Notebook
– When it comes to the eye test and athleticism, Tennessee safety commit Keshawn Lawrence may be the most impressive defensive back in attendance. Lawrence has a massive frame and looked smooth in drills. He was among the most productive safeties in the 1-on-1 session and showed impressive closing speed in defending smaller wide receivers like Gary Bryant Jr. and Mookie Cooper.
– Top 100 safety Lathan Ransom looked smooth in covering from within the slot. Even when lost a rep, he did a nice job staying attached and showed good reactive quickness in and out of his breaks. Ohio State leads in Ransom’s Crystal Ball.
–Ohio State pledge Lejond Cavazos had a solid day, showing some impressive athleticism and speed. A finalist for the event’s fastest man, Cavazos was able to use that burst on a few reps in making up ground with wideouts if he gave up some separation off the line. The Ohio State pledge's most impressive rep came against Demond Demas. Cavazos was able to stay attached to the five-star wide receiver on a vertical route and made a nice play on the ball for a PBU.
– Florida State commit Demorie Tate really impressed us from an athletic perspective, but will need to hone his technique in his backpedal. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, given Tate spends a lot of time on offense for his high school.
– De'Arre McDonald was one of the more competitive corners we saw during 1-on-1’s. The Nashville area prospect took a lot of reps and had one of the few interceptions we saw on the day, jumping a short route. McDonald made a number of nice jumps on the ball, showing good instincts and quickness. His Crystal Ball is currently in favor of Ole Miss.

How the linebackers looked on Day 1 of The Opening Finals
quote:
FRISCO, Texas — Monday afternoon at The Opening Finals saw players break up into a camp-like setting to work on position-specific drills and 1-on-1s. Here are our observations from watching the linebackers work out at the Star.
Alpha Dog
It was an excellent group where there were several candidates for Alpha, but as the pass coverage one-on-ones went on, it was Penn State commit Curtis Jacobs who made plays over and over again. We could see why the Owing Mills (Md.) McDonough four-star is also a good offensive player for his high school as he has excellent ball skills. He had a one-handed interception and then another interception. He also broke up several passes.
Next 3
Noah Sewell – The Orem (Utah) athlete is 266 pounds making him easily the heaviest linebacker in attendance. With that, he is right there with the group in terms of athleticism and ability to cover. He was rarely beaten in pass coverage and did well in the cat and mouse drills as well. Seeing a guy that big move like that in space had his name buzzing during the camp.
Quandarrius Robinson – Robinson is built for this type of event. A long, sleek athlete, he is very fluid and covers a lot of ground quickly. There were some other fast linebackers in the group also, but Robinson’s body control in addition to that speed separated him. The Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olim product is committed to Alabama.
Cody Simon – An Ohio State commit from Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peters Prep, Simon is maybe not the big, physical freak some of these other guys in the group are at 6-foot-1, 217 pounds, but he is very quick and plays with great control. He is always in excellent position whether it be in cat and mouse or coverage. He was one of the backers with the best technique.
Emptying the Notebook
- Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek’s Trenton Simpson is a fast, explosive prospect with as much upside as anyone in the group. The Auburn commit has the foot speed to run downfield with backs which he did on a couple wheel routes.
- Recent Florida commit Derek Wingo had an interception in one-on-ones and good reps in cat and mouse.
- Mississippi State commit Jakivuan Brown had good reps in cat and mouse. Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County’s Wesley Steiner and Buford (Ga.) Lanier’s Phillip Webb were two others who showed good athletic traits in space.
