Dunbar was terrible. So glad we have guys now who are about coaching AND recruiting.

There was a guy on Finebum yesterday, from The Athletic talking about the spread offense. He said the number one rated full back in the country has zero offers. Everyone now wants that extra receiver, and sometimes two when they take the tight end out. But the question is what do you do in short yardage situations. We were not very good at that last year. I guess you move a tight end to full back.

Alabama hasn’t used a traditional fullback since Mike Shula was the head coach. Whether it was Major Applewhite, Jim McElwain, Lane Kiffin, etc., an h-back or jumbo back has been employed for short yardage. Jalston Fowler was probably the closest thing to a fullback Alabama has had under Saban.

Pretty harsh, still the best DL coach Bama has had...
Hindsight, he still catches grief for a lineman who was a glorified backup plan who has now transferred from his initial school.

If you look at the Fullback position on 247sports, in 2019, the number 1 and number 3 FB's are committed to P5 schools. The top guy is 6'2.5" and will play H, TE, or LB, I'm sure. For the 2020 class, there are currently only 3 FBs listed, and the top guy is a 2-star player from Portland, Oregon. I'd guess that he'll end up somewhere in the G5-D2 range as he's 6'1", but he's still a middling recruit regardless of the position.
Simply put, most FBs on these recruiting sites are short - 5'10" and such - and few P5 programs want a person with that height at any position (outside of RB). The reality is that very few high school offenses are utilizing the FB, and when they do, that player is frequently not a D1 prospect to begin with. He's either far undersized for other positions or far slower than a top RB prospect. It is what it is.
Regarding what to do in goal line, if a team has recruited well at RB, H, TE, OLB, ILB, DT, DE, then that team should have 30-50 players to choose from who can line up and hit someone in the mouth in goal line situations. It ain't rocket surgery.

Love his vision and cutting ability. He's faster than I thought also. He isn't getting caught from behind

Reminder:
06/24-07/23 - Dead Period - No face-to-face.
Bama just finished its final three-day prospect camp of the summer. Next up is the Champions Cookout on Friday, followed by the final OL/DL camp of the summer on Saturday.

This is random but I just realized that 5 of our 6 highest rated commits are linebackers. Saban on a tear again boys
With 6 commits at LB, who all is left that is a take? Are Smalls and Flowe the only 2?

Yeah, I think those two and Sewell would be takes, but I don't think were in it for Sewell.
Also, I think Reggie Grimes is a take. He's listed as an athlete who could play OLB, (or maybe bulk up into a DE) or TE. I've got him in the TE group in the 1st post. Imo, that's his natural position with his size, speed and atleticism.

He's a player. Good speed not afraid to put his head down for yards either.

May have been the worst season of LB play in 10 years
I hope the coaching changes get us back to our standard

I posted recently that I wasn't sure whether or not Story was a take. Forget that. According to Rodney Orr and another guy that I know that has a close coaching contact at Lanett, he's a pretty big priority. Definitely a take. A&M is offering him a chance to play QB. Bama is doing a good job selling him on Safety being his best shot at the NFL. Sounds like his dad likes Bama a lot.
