Alabama was picked to finish 7th in the SEC by the media. We have no players on the All-SEC first or second team

Should be good bulletin board material for them

ETA: In reality, probably close to where we are supposed to be though. SEC looks stacked this year.

Hard to argue much with either really. Donta is the guy that could legitimately be on one of the two teams, and I'm not even sure that he gets that much hype/talk from our fans.

Also 7th seems fair. The SEC should be pretty good this year, so the 7th place team should be an NCAA type of team unless they blow the non-conference (or schedule poorly).

For what it's worth, I'm not arguing that it won't be bulletin board material. Bulletin board material isn't always inaccurate.

Completely agree, even though 7 is probably a fair ranking there is no reason they should accept the fact anyone other than Kentucky is out of their reach.

vs Texas A&M (W)
@ Missouri (L)
@ Tennessee (L)
vs Ole Miss (W)
@ Baylor (W)

I feel like we lose one of those home games (Murray St, Georgia St, Penn St, Arizona). I feel like it ends up being Murray or GSU and GSU is going to be good this year so I'll go with them. And if we are 5-3 with losses to UCF and Georgia State with Zona and PSU coming up boyyyyyyyyyyy people are gonna be salty. And by people I mean me.

IF ANY OF YOU QUOTE THIS LATER IN THE YEAR WHEN WE ARE STRUGGLING I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO FVCK YOU UP

Avery just spoke at media days. Said as of today Dazon would be PG followed by Avery Jr and then Kira. Said Mrs. Cassandra wants it to be her son lol

I'd be somewhat surprised if Hall doesn't make the first or second team, but the rest of it seems reasonable.

So this is going to be annoying part we've got to look past to get through this season.

This is every mother everywhere. Their baby is a star that's not given a fair chance to shine.

I love Avery Jr.'s passion for Alabama, but I cannot wait to have the nepotism gone from this program. I understand it. I'd do the same thing in that situation. But it is a little frustrating for the fans.

At least Jr. isn't getting Saul Smith minutes and he isn't as terrible as Steven Pearl, so it could be worse.

What nepotism? Avery Jr hasn't been a starter and you could hardly say he is given preferential treatment.

You don't just put Kira at starting PG, you make him earn it which will help him build character.

Last thing I want to see at PG is Dazon because he isn't really facilitator... however I understand that if Kira shows his stuff he will take the spot just like Sexton.

I differ slightly here, don't see us losing Murray St, however Northeastern is going to be a TOUGH game we could easily lose. Small, disagreement, but great writeup.

This board thinks AJ Jr wouldn't have made his high school JV team without his dad, and that if Lawson started, we'd be a 3 seed.

let's pump the breaks on the avery jr sucks talk

Dude averaged the same amount of points as Herb in half the minutes per game and turned it over way less. Does Herb suck? No, and I'm not comparing the two.

There's been worse players on scholarship come through the Univ of AL, lots.

he scored 8 points in 10 minutes with 1 assist and no turnovers in our tourney win. That's great production off the bench.

Whether you think you did or not, you compared the 2. Avery Jr. took the same number of shots per game as Herb did and Herb was more efficient. He doesn't turn the ball over because he dribbles his arse backwards towards defenders and can't create for others. That's not even taking into account that Herb was a defensive monster last year which was the main reason he got the minutes he did.

He was terrific that one game. Awesome. In fact he was pretty solid the entire postseason and even with that he didn't break the 35% mark from the field for the season because of just how brutal his season was going up until that point. One or two games shouldn't overwrite an entire 3 seasons worth of sub-par production.

For the record I don't think Avery Jr. is some terrible basketball player who's not worthy of a D-1 scholarship. I do think he's an end of the bench player who shouldn't play much at a decent P5 school. I also think our 5-star caliber recruit is already better than he is and can produce better than the 34% career FG% Avery Jr. is sporting. I understand easing Kira in, but I'd be surprised if Jr's minutes dwindle any even if Kira proves to be capable. We'll probably just do what we did last year and shift him more into the 2-guard spot.

People can avoid calling it nepotism if they want, but I think everyone here knows the truth. It's a terrible situation for CAJ to be in. His son is a D1 basketball player and he's the coach keeping him on the bench. I personally think CAJ is looking forward to not having that burden.

Side note: I find it funny how Riley catches so much shite, when he's been a far better player than Avery Jr. has been here.

That fact that you are comparing Avery Jr and a future NBA player proves my point.

I never said he was great, even good but nepotism? get out of here.

sub par production from a backup point guard? stop the presses

Praise Jesus! Steven Pearl may have been the worst high-major basketball player I've seen.

My very lukewarm take is that Riley and AJ JR probably both catch too much shite. Both are solid-ish players that have obvious limitations, but neither kill us. They aren’t, for example, dumb players or questionable work ethic players.

It’s not like AJ is Ben Eblen (also not dumb or lazy to be fair to him) and it’s not like Riley is ....why can’t I think of a white wing that recently played for us?

I can understand that and it's probably true. He's an end of the bench player on a decent high-major team. I feel like people get too triggered by the word "nepotism". If people don't think a sub-6 foot, 35% FG% Avery Jr. sliding over to the 2-guard when Collin Sexton or even Dazon Ingram was in the game isn't in the least bit a result of being the coach's son, I don't know what to say. That's pretty much what he was for much of the season: a very under-sized 2-guard.
