I always felt FR PGs are in a hard place so I see Butler as below avg SEC point guard his FR yr, he had some major TO problems at the HS level which is where most FR struggle. That's fixed w experience, which is why I say a 2019-20 top finish is likely

I like Smith, Reese and the Volkswagen but VW is the only one I see as serious contributor but only as a consistent role player type level. Smith/Reese I don't think can be relied on for consistent production next year

Reese in particular needs to lose weight AND develop a true perimeter game comfortable w the balls in his hands with light pressure. That's a 2 year development

I'm not sold on miss st , they piled up over half their wins against cupcakes

Maybe so, but they still won 9 SEC and had quite a few impressive performances vs top SEC teams

More importantly, they return their entire extremely young team and get some elite recruits from a team that won 9 games plus gave a number of top teams runs for their money

I've watched them play quite a bit, if they can be average to above avg 3FG shooters they are better than both TN/AU next year

I'm not really sold on TN next year. I think they are very good but not elite. I see them finishing 3-5 next year. I love Schofield, like Williams but the rest of the guys are good but not enough to take the next jumo

Auburn depends on Purifoy/Wiley coming back + unexpected departures but I'd put us similarly at 3-5

Anybody know what our In Conference SOS was?? I figured since we drew aTm and UF it was probably one of the toughest.

Who is VW? Cannot figure that out to the life of me. And why does it take Reese 2 years to drop weight? He’s already comfortable shooting and putting the ball on the floor.

I see us having about the same type season next year as we did this year. Perimeter defense and rebounding should improve. We’ll have a little more experience even though we’re going to miss Sexton a ton. Should be more consistent with less mental lapses. Will be interesting to see if our guys can develop more of an offense without one dominant player. I like Butler a lot, but we’ll be in for a major disappointment if we ask him to screen and roll as often as we did with Collin.

I expect something like
20-11 (10-8)...bout a 7 or 8 seed.

Im really interested to see who we draw from the Big12 in the challenge.

Did he adjust, or did Sexton just start scoring 20+/game?

Sexton started scoring 20 plus a game when he began to pull up and shoot that mid-range jumper in front of the defense....who got him to do that?
By the way, if several of our guys would develop one, too, we'd be a helluva lot better offensive team.

How are we clearly one of the top 5 teams in the conference next year?

I don't think it's hardly possible to predict conference standings until you see the schedule. There can be a ton of difference between conference schedules. Auburn and Tennessee for example played 7 and 8 games respectively against Wednesday SECT teams, or going back to last season we played 7 games against Wednesday teams. That makes a big difference.

I don't want to look up rankings, but I imagine it was pretty good. None of x2 opponents played on Wednesday of the SECT, and 2 of them were top 3 in the conference.

Herbie the VW bug. It's an obscure reference

I'm saying Reese was a project to begin with and massive weight change/skill development to be truly valuable is a 2 year thing.

I like Reese's future, I'm just saying next year he prob gives solid minutes but he'll still be on the learning curve

Sophomore Braxton Key briefly declared for the draft after his freshman season before returning for 2017-18. "I'm just playing it by ear," Key said at his locker Saturday afternoon. The Charlotte product scored 7.0 points a game this season after coming back from an early-season knee injury.

If Key seriously thinks he can go professional anywhere other than the Middle East, he might be the biggest dumbass we've had come through this program in a long time. The front row caught more of his passes than Alabama teammates this year and god forbid we talk about his shooting.

It just seems like he doesn’t enjoy being at Alabama. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if he transfers

Key should transfer. Maybe someone can instill confidence in him, because he's played like a puss here.

We can be a more well-rounded team next year IF the players develop.

So your case for being better is if we develop? Other then Hall who developed from last year? None of the recruits we gain will be major contributors or scoring threats. Most of all we lose a top ten draft pick. Hard for me to believe we will be better with the lack of shooters we have while losing the best.

Not Dazon or Key

Dazon:
Shot 10% less FG than last year,
12% less from 3,
increased his rebounds by 1.2 PPG,
Increased his Fouls by .2 per game,
reduced his assists from .8 per game.
and reduced his TO by .2

Pretty much what I've been trying to say
Jones must develop a mid-range jumper to advance his talent level. His defense is exceptional, but his decision making needs much improvement....kids got a lot of potential and will be a good "test tube" to determine Avery's developmental skills.
Reese has a nice stroke, but is very lacking in quickness. Maybe losing some weight and getting more experience will be enough to make him a solid asset.....he also needs to get more aggressive with his rebounding.
