Good that he's confident, but I still don't think he should take every single shot when he touches the ball. I like that he showed he's willing to attack the basket in the SECT. Sexton could cut and be wide open for a layup if he does that.

Pretty big if there. And "open up" would still pit us against teams we'd be underdogs to (West Virginia, Wichita State, Texas Tech, Purdue).

Just hope we win the first one then we get a no pressure us against the world game in Round 2.

West Virginia would be a nightmare matchup with that press and some of our ballhandling skills outside of Sexton . Long way off though

This was something he did more when Sexton was out. He also gets a good shot off after being fouled leading to and 1s. It where some of his nice assists came from during that stint. Maybe I'm misremembering. I might go back and watch those so I'm not talking out of my arse.

I think his biggest problem is he's out of control when he does this and leads to a nice play or a turnover. It's something he needs to focus on improving during the offseason.

If Petty is making open looks then we are a totally different team.

The general plan of "success" for this team was always Sexton/Ingram creasing zones or beating guys in man off the dribble, causing the defense to collapse and dishing to open guys for easy looks. If our guys (Petty, Key) are making those looks, we're in good shape. If they aren't, teams just back it in, smother the drive and the only way for us to score is in transition.

Basically, Key and Petty have to make enough open shots to make defenses respect them. If they don't, we won't score enough.

The good news is, the "best case scenario" (Sexton making shots and in the groove, Ingram being aggressive, Petty making shots, Hall healthy) Alabama team can absolutely give a bunch like Villanova all they want. However, as we know, that team has only showed up 1 or 2 times all year. Without it, we'd have to have Villanova play pretty poorly to have any chance.

So it's pretty much a win over VT? All I've been seeing is everyone talk about Nova.

Its teams like VT that have been beating Bama all year.

Seems like Key has either shot faked and passed up on every look he's gotten, or shot it short. Not sure why he's been short on every 3 lately.

Yea Va Tech is our title game.

No need to look beyond that.

I would LOVE to get Witchita State in the Sweet 16 and put an arse whipping on them. Probably wont happen because VaTech and Especially Nova are gonna be hard to win.

Not even close, but I think if we play well we beat Virginia Tech. If we play poorly we lose to them. Not sure we really do a middle, outside of one awful half and one good half I guess.

Who the hell knows which one shows up. It's more interesting at this point, on Monday, to discuss whether our good is good enough to beat Villanova or not.

All I know is that at this point in the season, there is no more room for the unmotivated or effortless games that we saw during that 5 game losing stretch.

I'm hoping beyond hope that we play like we have did in those big games vs Oklahoma, Tennessee, Auburn in the SEC Tournament, etc.

I'd just like to get to the Nova game. Not going to be upset if we don't at least get a win in the tournament, but I'll somewhat disappointed for not breaking the streak against a team Alabama us more than capable of beating.

Nova is a different animal. They're beatable, but having watched then all year, it would take Alabama's very best game to beat them. Almost 'Zona-game like, but with more production from Key and Ingram.

The non conference tournament win against Wichita State Avery's first year was a top 2-3 most satisfying games I've ever seen us win- at least recently. Avery Johnson owns Greg Marshall's arse.

Getting by Va Tech is going to be very tough, but I just saw this regarding Nova and them playing in 2nd round Saturday games:

Villanova 2nd round games:
2010 - lost on Saturday
2014 - lost on Saturday
2015 - lost on Saturday
2017 - lost on Saturday

If we could just get by Tech and have an opportunity. We may lose by 30, but I would love for our guys to be able to advance and give it a shot. This time of year anything can happen.

UA just emailed me and asked if I wanted 2 more tickets to the regional. I think I have 1 Tide Pride point so obviously no UA season ticket holder wanted them
