Yet the newest and apparently most important criteria for the tournament field is based on which metric?
You mean the newest and most important criteria that further degrades an individual team's RPI rank by focusing more on their quadrant wins and not their overall rank?
UF has a better quadrant W/L profile than Bama does right now despite being #64

Reese is actually suited for the pick and pop style. Kid shoots it pretty well.
I :kige: this, but he isn't there right now. This team is a bunch of potential, not a lot of game ready talent unfortunately. As expected w/ youth, you see guys flash that potential (Petty 8 3FG or the Volkwagon v OU) but they aren't ready to be consistent, reliable players.
Just look at Sexton, he is just as inconsistent as the other FR on this team. The difference is that Sexton's inconsistency fluctuates his play between good to awesome
instead of bad to good

You're dead on about us using a pack line defense though.
Would just be hard to Pack line it running an uptempo offense. At least no team I can think of packlines with an uptempo offense

So does Collin play Saturday or do we hold him out? I know we addressed his issues early in the season, but all the talking heads act like this is the first time the NCAA had heard of all the FBI stuff. Did they sign off on Collins one game suspension and reimbursement or did we take it upon ourselves to assume that was sufficient?

Just dropping by to say my parakeet's head just fell off. This is Alabama basketball so I'm going to blind kid the thing and pretend everything is fine.

First, do NOT listen to a thing the 'talking heads' say. They have one and only one goal - draw viewers and clicks. Facts don't matter one bit.
Second, when he was suspended Byrne specifically stated that the NCAA had looked at the issue.
The groups (agents, runners, etc) involved in this latest story are the same ones in the earlier stories. You know danged good and well that Alabama's compliance people dug as deep as possible the first time around. We had an assistant athletic director implicated in a federal criminal investigation. When that happens, you don't take ANYBODY at their word.
So, you're left with two possible results. First is Sexton and his people looked CAJ and compliance in the eyes and lied back in the fall. If that happened and it has been discovered it you don't have to worry about Saturday because he'll never play again.
Second is that there is nothing new, but putting Alabama in any story about cheating automatically creates a national interest.
Pat Forde and Pete Thamel wrote this story. I'll let you decide which is the most likely scenario.

Missing the point. I don't agree with it in the least. The fact that a road win vs RPI 75 is significantly greater than a road win vs RPI 76, baffles the shite out of me. My point is that you said they're trying to get away from the RPI, yet they just based a new system of judging a team's wins off of it.

I don't think quadrant wins are here to stay, I think they just view it as a stopgap improvement while they come up with better metrics to use.

These arbitrary determinations were no different than vs top 25/50/100 that were used before

Uh... no they aren't?
The earlier stories were regarding Chuck Person, Bama AD employee and Sexton + a financial agent that is unrelated to the Miller NBA agency that these documents come from.
Now, it is entirely possible that the 1 game suspension was for the Miller NBA agency meal and the Chuck Person situation was deemed negligible though
Posted on 2/23/18 at 3:41 pm to GenesChin
Sexton was not named as being paid, was listed as receiving a meal along with Knox and bridges...I agree with the part about ignoring the talking heads, amazing they didn't mention that this stuff was uncovered in November.

The Persom case isn't linked to that so hard to say if it is referring to the same thing
This also is only the beginning and hasn't touched shoe deals

Thats the same concept as being paid or receiving a gift. If he didn't pay for the meal it's receiving a benefit.
