Last year as in 2011. How was this wrong? I apologize for forgetting another of bama s QB signings this year. Of course this is why no one on the previous bama recruiting thread, may it rest in peace, was freaking out or anything about signing a top signal caller in this class.

But I will be nice and explain it to you. You implied that Bateman would start in '13 if AJ goes pro or gets injured. While that's possible, it's not likely. He will definitely compete for the job in '14 though.
Which is not all that different from UGAs situation. Ramsey won't likely get the nod in '13 if Murray goes pro or gets injured but he'll get a shot to compete for the job in '14.

Alabama's 2013 QB Depth for the Dawg fan
AJ McCarron RS Senior
Phillip Ely RS Soph
Alec Morris RS Fresh
EE Cooper Bateman RS (?)
EE Parker McLeod RS
Blake Sims could also get back into the QB mix. That has yet to be determined. He'll be a RS Jr in '13.

He will be an EE next January, so I would expect him to compete for the job in 2013 if AJ goes pro, seeing as we wouldn't have a returning starter. Saban is going to start whoever gives us the best chance to win, whether he is a 5th year senior or a true freshman.

Just cause it's fun to compare
Murray - RS Senior (if he stays; I don't see why he'd go early)
Hutson Mason - RS Junior
Christian Lemay - RS Sophomore
Faton Bauta - RS Fresh
EE Brice Ramsey - RS
ETA: Richt can't manage a general roster worth a damn, but he sure can put together a group of QB's

what santa said.
Every thing goes as Saban has planed CB has 2 springs and 1 rs to be the starter in 14.

Don't disagree, Santa. I said it was possible but unlikely he would win the job in '13. Bateman probably would have the most talent, but my money would be on Ely or Morris. I can't remember the last time a true freshman had a successful campaign as a starting QB in the SEC and it will definitely take Bateman more than a spring and fall camp to adjust from Utah high school talent to SEC.

I don't think people are giving Alec Morris enough credit. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people. He has been working on his dropbacks nonstop since the end of his football season last year. Big strong kid with a good arm... I wouldn't count him out in '14.

Agreed. He's one I'll be watching intently on fan day.

Well, Damn, go ahead and pull his scholarship.
Of course, good ole Shaq Wiggins is on the Superbad offense that shut out Ramsey, and Bama commit Maurice Smith is on Ramsey's team that gave up 18. It is like a Spring game. Nothing is altogether good or bad.

Perhaps you should learn to take a joke. I'll bet that Wiggins is playing linebacker, what with his impressive 40 time and all.

Excuse me? How is a sarcastic reply not running with the joke?
My take on Cbs- if they are always in the right position, they don't need the recovery speed.

Well the first half Maurice has looked good and broke up several passes while Shaq(top heavy)Wiggins has gotten toasted.Live on the U.
Brazil is slow.
Bateman going to AU TE commit a lot.Made a few good catches and dropped a few as well.

Now you're learning.
Now, back to Alabama recruiting... Does anyone know anything about this '14 DT/DE Valentine? He doesn't have any film and I don't have a clue about the kid.
