Maynard is A LOT worse and he's at a position that's not 1 Bama subs in a lot, DB is, and there was the possibility of S as well, Nic (Sand) is right but I also hope the ONLY reason staff didn't offer was because of grades, he looked VEEEERRY BLEAK in terms of grade situation coming out & looked like a possibility to even miss JuCo & all of a sudden he showed up as qualified at Ole Miss

Mama REALLY wants him at Bama, he only committed to Clempson because the SEC schools (sans Ole Miss, who told him they would eval) told him his teammates weren't "SEC Caliber" so in his mind I'm pretty sure it was "Damn what my parents think, I'm sending a message" and that is pretty obvious now

I think that must have been who my guy was talking about when he put me on commit alert. I figured Rob would wait a while, but it is starting to rumble louder. Good intel from my dude

We should have played it like we played Marcel Dareus and his little brother. Marcel had a "no child left behind" brother that couldn't tie his shoe and when Marcel committed his brother got a hat to put on and act like he was going to eventually make it to Alabama too. Sign Denzel, if he makes it in, great. If not, get Rob and bring Denzel back in 2 years. I know numbers were tight last year, but between Hill and Rob someone wasn't going to qualify so just roll the dice. Ugggghhhh

In past years, we probably would've done just that. But last year for the first time we had to contend with the SEC's new 25 signing limit. Under this limit, a presumed sign and place guy like Denzell would've meant we would've had to part ways with one of our other commits or have someone agree to not sign an LOI. If not for the new rule, I presume we would've also signed some combination if not all of Philon, Taylor, and Gladney. The new rule makes sign and place guys more costly. Ole Miss rolled the dice (facing long odds) and won big time. We decided not to gamble.

Any news on the recruiting front? You have to think we impressed some recruits with that passion on Saturday.

Greg Ostendorf had some interesting tweets regarding Robert Foster. Foster said "I love Alabama, they made me feel comfortable." And also, "leaving home is part of becoming a man" when talking about us. As buccwild already said, it looking good

It's laying the foundation for a commitment.

how many more people can we take? at this point i think we are in on foster, trying to flip liner, in on adams, tunsil, conner, bell, kamara, nkemdiche to a certain degree, just to name some of the big ones. if brandon hill resigns with us, that gives us 20 commits. how many early enrollees can we back count?

@AndrewJBone: Kain Daub, 2014 LB from Sandalwood HS in Jacksonville, Fla., is no longer an #LSU commitment. He'll visit #Alabama this weekend.

I have an Uncle who is a USC fan. He wants to know what our chances are to get Tunsil the linemen?

We need another Big Line backer. I hope in the 2014 class we can make up for the loss of Rueben Foster. We were averaging a 5 star linebacker every recruiting class just about

VERY good to get Tunsil

He's coming in this weekend WITH his MOTHER AND Derrick Henry AND Demarcus Walker, Kain Daub will also be there (Walker's newest teammate)

Also 5/4-star (depending on site) DL A'Shawn Robinson will also be visiting this weekend, he's a Texas commitment who MIGHT be wavering, but staff won't know for sure how serious he is about Bama until he gets on campus, but staff believes they have a shot (as does a couple insider sites)

Dee Liner is also trending up in terms of Bama landing him
